Two suggestions:

1. Close the browser window (not serious)

2. Become a sponsor member (serious)

http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/premium.php

The second option will free you from all ads in the forum (and add some nice features like a bigger inbox and much more album images)

PS.: Please understand that I have to earn some money to keep the forum running. Thanks.

I do understand but I doubt that these are ads. It says:

Current Leica eBay Auctions - | LEICA SUMMILUX-M 75 mm 1:1.4 | Leica Summilux-M 50 mm F/1.4 | Leica M9 Black Paint Body
Could you, at least, change the colour? This red is awfully aggressive. Thank you.

I second § 2. and § PS.

I do not particularly care about the concept of advertising for non-sponsoring members (like me). But this red banner thing is even more distracting than the other stuff. Admittedly there was a lingerie advertisement in one of the side bars about one hour ago (including sex toys) that was rather amusing. But I would like to disagree that non-sponsoring members should put up with everything that is thrown at them.

PM me for the link to aforementioned site:D

These are links to eBay auctions for Leica products.

If forum members click here AND bid for the auctions I get a small provision.

You can call this "member service" or "ads"...

It analyses the sites you visited and serves you what it finds appropriate. :D

I think the red is dark enough not to look aggressive (to my eyes).

How do I get rid of this aggression?

Sign off forever or pay the pittance to be rid of most of what your do not like.

It is that simple

Or stop complaining

In which case, how would you propose that the Forum owner actually pays for the site?

I wonder if you didn't misunderstand him... ?

Okay, let's say that I subscribe to a premium membership. What if the ugly banner is still here after I paid?

"do not particularly care" = can't give a toss

I.e. I am happy enough with advertisements if it pays the bills (admittedly some more than others).

The red banner is still rather distracting.

I am sure that any PayPal account will do. Ask Andreas (admin)

I don't think so. PayPal accounts must be linked to credits cards so that the subscription can be automatically renewed. It there's not enough money on the PayPal account the money is taken from the credit card.

So, you don't have a PayPal account?

Have you ever bought anything via eBay?

You need some rest. I've already said that I tried to subscribed but that my Paypal account had to be linked to a credit card. ;) (http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/about-leica-forum/191396-ugly-red-banner-top-forum-pages.html#post1770317)

Laundry time now! :D
