Consider myself IT illiterate but did few firmware updates in my time, all worked first time. OK I have engineering degree, and used PC/Mac for few years now. I wonder where rest of M9 user live - XIX century, maybe earlier? I would imagine typical male Leica clientele that buys M9 are professionals who must have access to computer for work never mind blogging (if retired). Actually let me latch to previous post; it really beggars belief that after 2 decades & counting of global personal computer exposure users of digital cameras struggle with file management - firmware update is tiny exercise in file copy. How do these people manage to backup images - that is perhaps more serious issue? It could be that those who struggle blog, those who succeed keep quiet. I always thought it's not possible to enable an SDHC device to handle SDXC cards by just a firmware update, so this definitely is exciting news if it was true ... regardless of how desperately you want to use 64 GB cards. Remember those infantile jokes about the new firmware's live view and auto-focus? This might be just another lame attempt of being funny. So please—can anybody confirm? I can't as I don't own any SDXC cards. If it's true then why didn't Leica communicate this in the list of changes of the new firmware, and has the M9's writing speed on SDXC cards improved over the sluggish SDHC writing speed? SDHC cards are all we really need; prices have dropped and capacities and speeds have increased. In five years when we really need a card, we may find that the only type readily available is SDXC. If it turns out that the digital M's work fine with the SDXC cards, so much the better! Good move by Leica! (They may not have mentioned it only because none of the beta testers thought to try it. As I understand, the beta testers weren't given any specific information about the new firmware; they were just told, "Here it is; throw anything at it and tell us what happens." It is bad enough losing a few pictures. Just thinking... would you strap a bulk loader onto your film M and shoot hundreds of photos on one real at a time? You find about 50m SDHC-cards on display there from very different brands from 2 -32GB. After some searching I found one (1) SDXC, a SanDisk Ultra 64GB for 250,-€. As far as I know not every computer is compatible to SDXC. There was someone coming to the forum, shouting SDXC, and nobody can try if this is true, because nobody has such a card. Funny--five years ago, most computers didn't have card slots; now they all have card slots but the card slots of some are already obsolete. What letter comes next after XC? And what capacity range? Hi I'd suggest you might have upset some ladies... Some people rely on offspring, nephew, neice or spouce. It is not unknown that I need to empty and reload a film camera, but I dont sneer as I do it. It is sad that you seem to belong in Huxleys Brave new world... Just thinking about what others are probably wanting (I don't do video) I just have a few 16s and keep it at that.
