elansprint72 Posted February 5, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 5, 2007 Agree with Azzo, widescreen format really suits it. Is that little lighthouse leaning? Pete.

svenning Posted February 6, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 6, 2007 Dear Andy Barton, Wonderfull picture of the harbour entrance :-)) May I ask you how many meters the tidal-difference is at Whitby? On your picture it could look like to be 3-4 meters? All the best - Svenning, Denmark.

samwells Posted February 7, 2007 Share #11 Posted February 7, 2007 Andy - lovely honeyed tones against the grey, and there's some great little spots of scarlet dotted around. Wonderful viewpoint and composition...thanx for sharing. cheers: Sam
stunsworth Posted February 7, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 7, 2007 Andy, nice colours and that small fishing boat makes the shot IMHO - perhaps they're going to the chippie, I seem to remember there's a very nice fish and chip shop just by the harbour wall. Svenning, avccording to the BBC the tidal range this time of year is about 4 metres... andybarton Posted February 7, 2007 Author Share #13 Posted February 7, 2007 They are probably bringing supplies into the chip shop Thanks for the comments guys - all much appreciated. John M - the two "arms" that you can see in the photo are like an extension to the two main habour walls. Although I only went out onto the nearer of the two, from this viewpoint, it looks as if it is possible to walk out onto the further one, directly from the wall (you may need permission, of course). This shot was taken half way up the cliff face where there is access to the Abbey (see my other shot from that morning) Whitby is somewhere where you could probably spend all day shooting (if you didn't have any spousal or canine encumbrances )
