daveleo Posted June 18, 2011 Share #44 Posted June 18, 2011 Pete the bugs are very nice, but the mushrooms are just stunning ! ! mushroom #1 is "a work of art".
farnz Posted June 18, 2011 Author Share #45 Posted June 18, 2011 Thanks, Dave, your kind comment makes lying on my belly on the damp forest floor for hour on hour as the lunch menu for all manner of flying, biting beasties all the more worthwhile. But I can hardly take the credit, which must go to the simply extraordinary 100 APO-Macro. Pete.
carylwithay Posted June 18, 2011 Share #46 Posted June 18, 2011 Pete, the lighting coming through those mushrooms is perfect. Well worth getting down and dirty. I am too old and decrepit to do that but I do admire you for going the extra mile. Caryl
imported_peter_m Posted June 19, 2011 Share #47 Posted June 19, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Very nice set Pete ! How do you bolt the R glass to the Sigma? Peter
farnz Posted June 19, 2011 Author Share #48 Posted June 19, 2011 ... How do you bolt the R glass to the Sigma? Oh you know, the usual: a combination of plasticene, nails, glue, string, and screws. Seriously though, there's a company called Sigmacumlaude who sell an R-mount conversion kit for Sigma cameras or offers pre-converted Sigma cameras on its website or on eBay. I wanted to try out the look of the Fovean sensor so I went for the pre-converted camera and have been happily surprised with the results, especially colour that seem to have extra depth. Pete. elansprint72 Posted June 19, 2011 Share #50 Posted June 19, 2011 imho the first one is pretty much perfect; the second could stand a crop off the top to get rid of the octagonal iris-thingy. But what would I know?
farnz Posted June 19, 2011 Author Share #51 Posted June 19, 2011 .... But what would I know? Plenty. Thanks. Pete, I'd decided to let the UFO stay because I felt it wasn't detracting too much but you're probably right. Pete.

farnz Posted June 22, 2011 Author Share #53 Posted June 22, 2011 I hope you are happy, Pete. No one (including me) has the guts to post another image to this thread, following your class act ! ! Oh dear, that wasn't my intention. I posted these long ago in the Nature and Wildlife forum and hardly got a comment. It just occurred to me as I was idly thinking about subjects starting with the letter M that "macro" and "mushrooms" qualify. Would it help if I posted a really poor photo to make amends:rolleyes: - believe me I have plently. After all, it's not a competition and there's no judging in the thread so please post more. If it helps to jog the creative muscle, all the following qualify: my cat, my dog, my car, more cats, meerkats, mere cats, mice, my ceiling ... Pete.
