hydeca Posted May 17, 2011 Share #41 Posted May 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) M9 (new August 2010) - Sensor assembly replaced (damaged during cleaning using Pentax lollipop) - Shutter failure (currently undergoing repair) M6 TTL (early 2000s, second hand March 2011) - Perfect Elmarit 28 (new August 2010) - Severe back focus fault (currently in transit to Solms for inspection) Summarit 50 (new August 2010) - Perfect Summicron 50 (mid 90s, second hand March 2011) - Perfect Summarit 75 (new May 2011) Winder for M6 (new May 2011) - Haven't opened the boxes yet as overseas but expect both will be fine So mine's a mixed experience but I am REALLY pleased to see the results of the poll so far; it restores my confidence in the M9 considerably. Its really valuable information for potential buyers as well as current owners experiencing faults. I reckon it should be enough to persuade NZDavid to go ahead. Advertisement Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hi hydeca, Take a look here M9 reliability poll (for NZDavid). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
sydkugelmass Posted May 17, 2011 Share #42 Posted May 17, 2011 So you are using your cards in two different cameras? That is a nearly certain way to create the faults you describe - pilot, not camera error I would say. Not at all! I just use one card in one camera, always the same pair card-camera. But: It was impossible to use with the M9 three different cards of the same sort, bought in two different shops. The three different cards were then reformatted in a PC with FAT32. The scandisk program found some (small) defective areas in every card. The cards were perfectly usable both in the PC and, reformatted in the camera, with the Lumix G10. If I try to reformat the three cards in the M9, same problem reappears as said in my preceding post.
frc Posted May 17, 2011 Share #43 Posted May 17, 2011 -Mine froze when using a SanDisk Extreme Pro 8GB. -One corrupted file, left and right side of one file were of different images. ( this was on a loner before I had my own ) -On/off switch can rotate when the camera is flung into the bag ( after a quick grab for the long lens SLR, don't tell me to be more careful ) resulting in multiple pics of the inside of he bag and possible drain of the battery. I will not derail the thread by discussing the problem - search the forum elsewhere - there are plenty of threads on the subject which may be helpful. MarkP Posted May 17, 2011 Author Share #46 Posted May 17, 2011 So far so good.....Jaap has this restored your faith?....but we really need many more posts. However only one in 10 who have visited the thread have responded. We really need to encourage as many M9 owners as possible to contribute. PLEASE leave comments & unrelated problems out, however tempting it may be! Once we've enough posts I'll start analysing and presenting the findings, and update them if the contributions continue. swamiji Posted May 17, 2011 Share #51 Posted May 17, 2011 2 M9's, one 18 months, one 7 months. No problems! Dirty sensors come with changing lenses. Memory card issue came with my M8. So these are just par for the course. I had a problem with the aperture ring on my summarit 75. Other than that, the only service any of my leica gear has had Is a 6-bit code upgrade on particular lenses.
