tuanvo1982 Posted May 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there, I have purchased the professional version of Vuescan 9.37 but it doesn't seem to work to me. It only does preview at all resolutions, once I click on the Scan button then scanner makes some noises and stop. I try few times but not luck. The SilverFast is work fine. I try to close all applications (antivirus, mouse usb, ....) but Vuescan still doesn't like me Anyone get same problem with me?
Advertisement Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Hi tuanvo1982, Take a look here Plustek 7600i and Vuescan 9.37. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted May 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted May 11, 2011 Which operating system are you using? You must make sure that any other scanning software is properly shut down before running Vuescan.
tuanvo1982 Posted May 11, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted May 11, 2011 Which operating system are you using? You must make sure that any other scanning software is properly shut down before running Vuescan. I have 2 laptops window 7 and window visa. All is 32bits and they have the same behaviour. I already uninstalled all Silverlight and antivirus firewall ....
Stealth3kpl Posted May 11, 2011 Share #4 Posted May 11, 2011 I might be mistaken as I haven't been following the Plustek thread closely but wasn't there some suggestion that Silverfast must be installed to allow Vuescan to work because Silverfast has the drivers. I might be talking codswallop though, I often do. Pete
too old to care Posted May 11, 2011 Share #5 Posted May 11, 2011 Vuescan worked on my PC with my Canon 8800F, but it did not offer any better scans than my Canon software. After I got my Mac I also got a Plustek. At first I assumed anything could be easier than Silverfast and tried Vuescan again. At first it would not recognize the scanner. After I installed Silverfast it could see the scanner, but it would lock up. It also messed up some of my other Canon programs (Printer and 5D2) and I had to completely remove Vuescan and load all the Canon software to get my computer working again. Since then I gave up on Vuescan and now use Silverfast, which I am actually starting to like. I love the dust removal for color slides and negatives. tuanvo1982 Posted May 11, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted May 11, 2011 Anyway, I have done a log file and email them. I am a IT guy but I still don't know what is going on with Vuescan. I have a good news. Yesterday, I spent 7 hours and slept at 2A.M but I couldn't figure my out why quality of image is so poor, alots noises, no sharpness. I thought something was wrong with my scan or software. Now I just realise the scanner needs to be putted on flat surface. I did have a nail cutter under a scanner's conner so it is bumpy. Now I put it on the floor and the quality is excellent. I can see why people love grains of Trix. This is the image without any sharpness. The second one is crop 100%. tuanvo1982 Posted May 14, 2011 Author Share #8 Posted May 14, 2011 VueScan has just emailed me and said the 7600i 4.2 driver has a bug. They suggested the usage of 7600i V4.0.1.0. Anyway, it doesn't work either. I have to ask for refund and stick myself with SFast. SF work like a charm so far
andybarton Posted May 14, 2011 Share #9 Posted May 14, 2011 One of the tech guys from Plustek visits here regularly. Try emailing what Ed Hamrick has told you to their support address.

I emailed Mark (Plustek) and Ed (Hamrick) I exchanged log files with Ed for about a week to see if he could correct the problem. He finally came to the conclusion that the later firmware was at fault. Mark @ Plustek sent Ed a scanner to work out the problem. I'm not sure where it stands now, but after uninstalling v4.2 and reinstalling v4.0, the scanner worked fine with Vuescan for me, as it did before I upgraded the firmware. Mark does monitor this forum as well as RFF and is great to work with. Nice to see a company take a personal interest.

lewis44 Posted May 15, 2011 Share #12 Posted May 15, 2011 I haven't seen the firmware of my scanner. But v4.0 doesn't work to me. I will see around about plustek firmware Thanks You need to uninstall the Plustek 4.2 software completely, delete the Vuescan folder and then re-install from the CD as if it is being done for the 1st time. Once that is done, re-install Vuescan with the latest version. If that doesn't work, I don't know what the problem is, but it's not Vuescan. I've used Vuescan for years with quite a few different scanners and it has been the only consistent software to work. I've also used Silverfast with different scanners and it gave me more problems than Vuescan. Good luck.
mdruziak Posted May 31, 2011 Share #13 Posted May 31, 2011 Vo, how did you make out with Vuescan? I think the problem may have been more with a new ASIG we are using in the scanner rather than firmware. Anyway, we sent Ed a scanner so he could resolve the issue. You do not need SilverFast to be installed to use the scanner with Vuescan.

mdruziak Posted June 21, 2011 Share #16 Posted June 21, 2011 There is a new version of VueScan that fixes this problem. Ed from VueScan posted the following on Twitter a few days ago: Released VueScan 9.0.46 with fix for some older Canon wireless scanners, fix for Canon 9900F and fix for Plustek 7600i. tuanvo1982 Posted June 21, 2011 Author Share #17 Posted June 21, 2011 I had done around 20 tests and emailed him log files. As a result, he fixed the problem.
