innerimager Posted February 1, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 1, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since everyone's wonderful images and comments in the thread I started on the 75 lux/cron convinced me they were both exceptional and very different "brushes", I did follow through with my plan to get a used lux, and a new cron. Well, I just won an e-bay auction for a "mint", we'll see, lux for $1984, around $800 less than the discounted one from Leica, (though not coded). I will also get the cron new, and if I end up selling the lux, I'll offer it back for what I paid! thanks.....Peter

All in good time.
Bill W Posted February 1, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 1, 2007 Peter, I was watching the same ebay auction. It looks like a good one. Let us know.
kidigital Posted February 1, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 1, 2007 Guy, before you part with the 75cron, let me know if you'd like me to send my lux down to you for a week so that you can make an evaluation. Just PM over your address. It's going to drop down to -15/-20 during the nights over the next week, so I probably won't be doing too much shooting ... at least outdoors. j. borger Posted February 1, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 1, 2007 Congrats ....you got yourself a wonderful brush .... the tonality in B&W from this lens is fantastic .... Some say on the soft side wide open Judge for yourself ... all wide open

Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 1, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks Kurt if it is anywhere close to the 80 I'm in

innerimager Posted February 1, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted February 1, 2007 j- wonderful images, these were already factors in my decision to get the lux. I'm especially interested in b&w with this lens. Did you convert from color or was this out of camera? My impression is that the cron has much "punchier" colors than the lux, and if I am mad enough to end up with both, I would perhaps use the cron more for color work. thanks again for the push! best.....Peter
Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 1, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 1, 2007 BTW I am looking for one if anyone has a nice 75 lux they don't need anymore
kidigital Posted February 1, 2007 Share #13 Posted February 1, 2007 Peter, in my opinion, you are correct. The colors from 75lux are a little more water color looking than those from the cron. The 75cron delivers more saturated looking colors. You could definitely rationalize having both.
innerimager Posted February 1, 2007 Author Share #14 Posted February 1, 2007 thanks Kurt- my rationalizations need all the help they can get!

About the colors ... it's what you prefer .. the lux is pastel like .... painterly ....i prefer that to saturated. I would give the Lux a good workout before deciding on the cron ...... Here is a color version (worked from raw)..... no IR filter .... Jamies M8 profile (chrome) tweaked to my personal taste (=desaturated)
innerimager Posted February 1, 2007 Author Share #17 Posted February 1, 2007 that's really something J. I agree with your advise about working the lux quite a bit before deciding. best....peter
