We were on a domestic flight from Antofagosta to Santiago, a few moment before arriving, the captain said : On the right site his majesty the Aconcagua .

The DL5 always ready took the picture !

I know this photo is a bit abstract so I don't need a specific name, but tell me the approximate location and the general name for these water and sand masses...

***first hints, these are often used by seals as breeding grounds, this one specifically is in the Western United States

Doug, you are correct, or close enough...

 

I can't be sure of exactly which one it is because they all look the same from 10,000 meters. But the sloughs and salt flats are all over the south part of the bay; seals typically go to the sloughs to breed. The area very interesting up close
