Sion?

We have a winner!

We are looking down on the western end of Sion from up in Nendaz - the fringes of which are in the foreground.

The airport is currently open to limited commercial traffic but due to the cost of upgrading it to meet current regs, it's likely that the place will close to commercial traffic and remain military only

OrientXI, your turn!

Well, OK Toshak. But I was misled by your description saying the Rhone was going West, then SOUTH : in fact, it goes West, then NORTH for a while, up to lake Leman, before going again West to the French border where it goes South - not definitely - to the sea. I had first thought of Sion, where I flew as a Belgian Air Force officer, but discarded it for the reason explained above. To the next opportunity !

First, I like very much your quote by Cartier-Bresson. Even if we are Leicaholics, we have to admit that the image is the important point.

As for continuing the game, I'll have first to investigate my archives. Quite surprisingly for a former airman - or not for a prudent pilot ! -, I have few images from above.

Thanks for your interest.

Pierre?

Sorry, Stuart : we've have been away for a few days (and more than 2100 photos...) and I did not access the Forum.

Yes, I have discovered a few aerial photos in my files, but I start today with a shot taken from not-so-high. Natural and architectural details should help...
