starrynight Posted April 6, 2011 Share #1 Posted April 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everybody. I've been searching for a used Leica CM (not the zoom version) everywhere with no luck. Does anybody know where I can find this compact 35mm camera in the UK or elsewhere? Kind regards Sam
Advertisement Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Hi starrynight, Take a look here Leica CM. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guido Posted April 6, 2011 Share #2 Posted April 6, 2011 Several are on eBay right now.
Stealth3kpl Posted April 6, 2011 Share #3 Posted April 6, 2011 Many prefer the Minolta. There's one at Red Dot http://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=34_35&products_id=3125 Pete
andybarton Posted April 6, 2011 Share #4 Posted April 6, 2011 The CL is completely different from the CM. Different camera altogether.

starrynight Posted April 6, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted April 6, 2011 You guys are great, thank you very much for your replies. Nightfire: I have looked on ebay but didn't find any. I would be very greatful if you would forward me some links. Pete: Why, in your opinion, is the Minolta a better camera? Andy: Are you recommending the CL? Kind regards. pop Posted April 6, 2011 Share #7 Posted April 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Two items: 1: There's one for sale right now in the classifieds of this forum: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/market/listing/3841/Leica_CM.html 2: We're not supposed to supply links to items on sale outside of the forum; thats what the classifieds are for. andybarton Posted April 6, 2011 Share #8 Posted April 6, 2011 Andy: Are you recommending the CL? I have no experience of the CL, but I have owned a CM. I would highly recommend the CM, IF you are happy with the very small viewfinder. The quality of the lens is outstanding.
starrynight Posted April 6, 2011 Author Share #9 Posted April 6, 2011 Hi Pop. Apologies for my previous post. The classified is a godsend, I have email the seller and hope he gets back to me soon so I can get my hands on this beautiful camera. Andy: This will be my very first film camera. I have read a lot on it and every review highly recommends it. My understanding is that the version without the zoom is faster. The small zoom capability is really not an issue for me - would you second this view?
andybarton Posted April 6, 2011 Share #10 Posted April 6, 2011 Forget the zoom and marvel at the quality of the 40mm.
pop Posted April 6, 2011 Share #11 Posted April 6, 2011 I used to own a CM zoom and I still own a CL. As Andy has said, those are very different cameras. I gave the CM to my favorite sister in the hope that she should start taking photographs again. It's that kind of camera which begs you to take it with you and to use it. Edit: I agree with Andy in this point: The CM with the fixed length lens is the better choice.
rjans Posted April 6, 2011 Share #12 Posted April 6, 2011 There are two CM's for sale on eBay Germany. I can recommend the CM and the viewfinder is fine with information displayed. A great improvement of the Minilux. Wish you success with finding a CM. Best Roger
