stkorn Posted March 29, 2011 Share #642 Â Posted March 29, 2011 No manual focus. I loaded the FW with no problem, but now I have no manual focus. Â Am I doing something wrong?? Â MF is probably locked - try press & holding the 'delete/focus' button for 1 second

Danielsan Posted March 29, 2011 Share #644  Posted March 29, 2011 It's a moot point now, but the AF in normal light was never fast enoughFor most ppl the X! AF is fast, actually i dont care if another camera is a sec quicker or slower, i mean who cares? For me it makes no difference if i have to wait one sec or two, this camera isnt made for taking images of running rabbits, i only use it during vacation to make images of houses, Landscapes, ppl and so on..Thats why this camera is perfect for me cause of the size and IQ, i like it that it dont have OVF cause it would make it bigger and that means not good for traveling. Thats why i sold my DSLR in the end. Thats why i will never understand why ppl complaining about AF. The points i would love to be in the X2 are better display, great macro mode and mechanical Lens instead of the "by wire" solution
amyupnorth Posted March 29, 2011 Share #645 Â Posted March 29, 2011 Upgraded my X1 this morning. Have taken about a dozen test shots and do think the AF seems faster, though it might be my imagination. I do love the MF improvements. Love that the ISO is displayed, too. Â I'm no pro, so my input might not be worth much to the rest of the folks in this forum, but I thought I'd throw it in anyway. Â Now to go out and take some pictures. For me, no. Not everyone photographs the same way or the same things. The X1's AF is not very usable on the streets. The MF certainly is now... donalrey Posted March 29, 2011 Share #650 Â Posted March 29, 2011 finally it's here! Â i just got done updating the firmware to 2.0. the new manual focus definitely looks like an improvement and the af seems a bit faster. i still have to try it out under low lighting to see if i can really tell the difference. Â you guys thoughts?

fotografr Posted March 29, 2011 Share #652 Â Posted March 29, 2011 Well, this is interesting. I just installed the update and now my manual focus doesn't work at all. The focus thumbwheel is completely ineffective. It doesn't change the focus distance at all. Previously, the MF worked just fine. Anyone else have this problem? By the way, I have gone through the update process twice so repeating didn't help.

Sparth Posted March 29, 2011 Share #657 Â Posted March 29, 2011 Same here: the overall responsiveness of the camera has been improved for sure. i would say a good 25% faster for the AF in low light, and even in normal light conditions. i gave it a try at starting using the camera like i would have done it before firmware install, and it did make a difference. very noticeable, to me at least. Â it's not putting the camera into the fast lane, but who cares. it's awesome anyway. Â well done, Leica!
Guest MartinMann Posted March 29, 2011 Share #658  Posted March 29, 2011 LEICA X1 Firmware Update Version 2.0 - Page 3  Metering Memory Lock (see instr., p. 106) A manually set focus position can now be locked by pressing the DELETE/ FOCUS button (1.15) for more than one second. This can prove to be very useful to prevent unintentional miss-setting, especially in the case of several consecutive shots of the same subject  http://en.leica-camera.com/assets/file/download.php?filename=file_5519.pdf
