Yes, all in manual mode and again in direct comparison with the GXR A12 "50"mm. The latter one has almost no lag. The X1 has a more pronounced lag, which makes it feel less stealth. But let's not blow this out of proportion, it's certainly not a deal breaker. The new FW makes the X1 an effective and enjoyable tool for MF/ZF, much more so then before.

Absolutely not. This is a very competent street shooter solution now. Very silent and very discreet

You guys, I don't understand how to upgrade my firmware. I downloaded the file, plugged in my camera via USB cable and tried to unzip the file. When I do this, a message appears saying there is no application that can read the file. What do I do?

You can tell us what type of computer you have. Is it Mac or windows?

You need to unzip the downloaded file. On a windows pc, use Winzip or similar. On a Mac, use stuffit. Both have free versions available to download.

david:

it sounds like you are on windows (if not forgive me) but the easiest way to update

is to extract the file and save it on your desktop then copy the file to a SD Card (not in the DCIM folder)

then put SD card in your camera = turn camera on= hit info button say yes you want to update and you are almost all done

then go to profiles - i hit the default profile and ran through all the options (dont know if this is necessary)

then tried the manual focus- didn't work - followed the directions on the forum and in the pdf manual focus works perfect

formated the SD card

shot some pix of my sleeping dog and futzed a little bit

and called it an update

Oh, thanks. I have a Mac. I will go to Stuffit and see if it works. Hmm, I didn't know any of this.

Have you downloaded the accompanying PDF which gives a lot of useful information?

When you say "FORMAT" the SD card in the camera, what do you mean? Do you mean take it out of the camera?

O.K. guys. Thank you for all of your help and I'm sorry I am such a ludite. I figured it out. I said "yes" to the format, took out my SD card, plugged it into my computer and dragged the firmware update on top of the SD card icon. I then put the SD card back into my camera and followed the version 2.0 update and it is now complete. It takes much better pictures than before. Here is my very first Version 2.0 photo:

Mac users may want to download 'the unarchiver', it's free, reliable, and blends right in without seeming to be another program. It's basically finder unzip on steroids.

Wow! That scenery showed up just in time. Maybe I'll reinstall the update and I'll get lucky too.
