tuanvo1982 Posted March 24, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 24, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just have a look around on the Internet. There are some people that complain about the build of Leica 35mm cron 2.0. I have a 35mm cron 2.0 Canada version. I can hear the sound of elements in the lens by shaking it. IMO, it should not be like this. I just think that we can open it then cleaning or make it tight. Do you have experience?
Advertisement Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Hi tuanvo1982, Take a look here 35mm cron is "loose". I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
farnz Posted March 24, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 24, 2011 I doubt that you're hearing the lens elements moving, it's more likely to be the aperture blades moving against each other. Since they slide as the aperture is adjusted they need to have some room to move so it's not surprising if they make a little sound when the lens is shaken. My tongue in cheek advice would be that if you don't want to hear the sound then don't shake the lens. Pete.
lct Posted March 24, 2011 Share #3 Posted March 24, 2011 Most Summicrons 35/2 have been made in Canada. My version IV rattles a little bit when the diaphram is open but keeps quiet at f/16.
tuanvo1982 Posted March 24, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted March 24, 2011 @Pete: my expression is bad I should say it rattles. I only feel annoyed when I keep my camera and move then the lens start to rattle.

My 35 Summicron is the same. @tuanvo1982, I don't think there's anything to worry about. Pete.
doubice Posted March 25, 2011 Share #6 Posted March 25, 2011 Many lenses (from any manufacturer) will 'rattle' when shaken. Depending on the design of the aperture mechanism, blades may be under tension either when opened or when closed. When not under tension, things can move around. Some lenses also have ball bearings to help with movement of the diaphragm mechanism - those will rattle as well. As suggested above, stop shaking the lens and take some photos!
