shootinglulu Posted March 4, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M9 has stopped working properly. I am unsure about the best course of action, should i send the camera to the dealer for them to organise repair or contact leica to send a courier..I feel nervous sending it in the post a courier might be safer and who to contact at Leica? I am in the UK. Thanks for any help I need my camera today this is so sad:(

250swb Posted March 4, 2011 Share #2 Posted March 4, 2011 Bad luck. I go through my dealer if there is a problem and they organise everything. Steve
andybarton Posted March 4, 2011 Share #3 Posted March 4, 2011 You could phone Mayfair and ask to speak to Customer Services. They will advise.
Nicoleica Posted March 4, 2011 Share #4 Posted March 4, 2011 I'm sorry to hear about your camera letting you down. On the second occasion when I had to send my camera back to Solms, I arranged this directly with Leica, and they even arranged for it to be collected from me. My personal experience is that going through the dealer can add extra time to the process, as there may be several other steps involved. But it all depends upon the exact problem, and the dealer in question. I hope that the problem is nothing too drastic, and that your camera is returned to you fully functioning, and in as short a time as possible. shootinglulu Posted March 4, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted March 4, 2011 I will phone Mayfair. My dealer is Ffordes who are so good but as you say Nicole it may take longer that way... Thanks a lot for the help.
farnz Posted March 4, 2011 Share #6 Posted March 4, 2011 Lucy, Beware of the insurance limit if you have to send it by courier yourself. I sent my M8 back to Solms for the upgrade a couple of years ago and at that stage none of the mainstream couriers would insure it for more than £1250. I had to contact the companies directly and weedle the information put of them. Hopefully things have improved. If you can, I recommend getting Ffordes or Solms to arrange a pick up so that they'll be liable for the insurance if anything goes awry. Pete. shootinglulu Posted March 4, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted March 4, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pete thanks. Yes, hopefully Solmes will take care of the pick up..and the camera is within warranty..The line to Germany has been engaged this morning but hopefully this will be ok. After i had bothered you good folks here i found the repair options on the Mayfair website and i think my best option is to deal direct with Solmes. Big thanks. jaapv Posted March 4, 2011 Share #8 Posted March 4, 2011 One word.. Fedex - not the cheapest, but unlimited insurance (announced value) and utterly reliable.
chris_tribble Posted March 4, 2011 Share #9 Posted March 4, 2011 Contact Leica Service directly and ask them to arrange courier - by far the best solution in my experience.
