Pecole Posted March 2, 2011 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Definitely one of my beloved items in the Fontenelle collection was the non-standardised Leica I nº 52591 with its three matching Elmar lenses engraved "591". The camera was in its original condition, with the swinging mask for 13,5 cm in front of the viewfinder, and it came in a fitted leather case (ETGAM?) containing, next to the camera and lenses, a VISOR vewfinder, a FODIS rangefinder, a WINTU angle viewer, three slip-on filters (FIHEL and FIGRO yellow, and FIOLA UV) and three supplementary font lenses ELPRO, ELPIK and ELPET. The Leica I nº 52591 with non-standardised mount, its 3 matching "591" Elmar lenses and accessories in the ETGAM-like fitted leather carrying case. Welcome, dear visitor! And finally a picture of the Leica I with its matching Elmar 13,5cm nº 591, and the appropriate swinging mask in front of the viewfinder. Pecole Posted March 4, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted March 4, 2011 Yup the first non standard I see with THREE matching lenses ! Yes, it is quite rare. It is now in good hands, with a very serious collector-author. I was happy to have been able to sell it - when I parted from my collection - to a real connoisseur I know and appreciete, not to a dealer.

Pecole Posted March 4, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted March 4, 2011 I wonder if somewhere does exist a 4-lenses set, with the Hektor 2,5... I believe not! I used to check the books at Wetzlar to list non-standardised Leica Is, some were listed as delivered with 2 or 3 lenses, sometimes with the Hektor as 50 mm, but never with both Elmar and Hektor 50. Now, as some Leicas have been "updated", everything - like usually with Leitz - is possible. Somebody once said something funny about Leica collecting : it is the only activity where the number of occurences is higher than the number of possibilities. By the way, it is a say here in Portugal, the only country where more things can happen than are possible...

Michael Geschlecht Posted March 9, 2011 Share #7 Posted March 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Pierre, Nice outfit. Nice photos. As per the observation about Leica collecting: It is like that more often than you might think in the art business also. Best Regards, Michael
