Shootist Posted February 15, 2011 Share #2 Posted February 15, 2011 If you find the 60mm of the DL4 limiting then yes. Never owned a DL4/LX3 but do own the LX5. wonderful camera for what it is. the Canon S90 I bought several months before getting the LX5 now sits on the edge of my desk. The M8 I've had for 4 years sits in it bag with only occasional use, special times. The LX5 goes everywhere. If you want to save money buy the Panasonic LX5 at half the price of the DL5. It is the same camera
ho_co Posted February 15, 2011 Share #3 Posted February 15, 2011 There've been about half a dozen threads on the topic. Use the forum's search function. This one asked exactly the same question and had 70 responses, so it might be a good place to start: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/142280-d-lux-4-owners-whos-upgrading.html

Shootist Posted February 15, 2011 Share #5 Posted February 15, 2011 Here's a thread that lists the benefits of the 4 over the 5. Pete. Hey Pete you started that thread and in this one you got it backwards. Benefits of the 5 over the 4.
farnz Posted February 15, 2011 Share #6 Posted February 15, 2011 Dang it, Ed, you're right! It's the benefits of the D-Lux 5 over the D-Lux 4. (I blame that pesky fire-water myself. It can do all kinds of crazy things to a man! If only I'd have drunk some.) Pete.
Dopaco Posted February 15, 2011 Author Share #7 Posted February 15, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you for the indications. My decision now is clearer. I remain with D-lux4 and go there is necessary to buy Panasonic GH2, speaks itself very well of her. Regards
Digitom Posted February 16, 2011 Share #8 Posted February 16, 2011 There've been about half a dozen threads on the topic. Use the forum's search function. This one asked exactly the same question and had 70 responses, so it might be a good place to start: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/digital-forum/142280-d-lux-4-owners-whos-upgrading.html Exactly that is a reason to merge these many threads of D-Lux 5 together into a sub-forum called "D-Lux" forum, or - if Admin will not do so - in a forum called "Leica compact Digital Cameras" where one could find all these "Panaleicas" like V-Lux, C-Lux, D-Lux and finally: yess(!) the Digilux very concentrated together. Why not? I think if it is possible to make a subforum only for the small number of S2 users here, or only for one camera like the X1, there is no real logical reason against another subforum. The search function is nice, but no argument, because one can also find anything about the S2 or X1 also via that function, so the search function could be an argument against ANY subforum. Also this new D-Lux (or Leica Compact) sub forum - combined with the newer, faster forum software (I read about that in the german section) would be a much better way to search quickly - and more attractive also to new users who have maybe no affinity to M or S or x, but to the "budget cameras" - the compact Leicas. More structure is necessary I think.
