It is precisely the M9 that has turned the tables for Leica Camera: Leica Camera AG - Investor Relations - Financial Reports
Advertisement Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Hi vanhulsenbeek, Take a look here M9/VC15 mm + red edge. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
vanhulsenbeek Posted January 26, 2011 Share #22 Posted January 26, 2011 Not that WATE is bad, but CV 15mm is great lens - smaller, lighter, sharper... Well, My CV 15 mm is not sharper. And there is the problem: CV lenses differ considerably across the range, probably because of less rigorous QC.
ho_co Posted January 26, 2011 Share #23 Posted January 26, 2011 Fortunately guys, I'm the first in line! Me two!
mjh Posted January 26, 2011 Share #24 Posted January 26, 2011 And in order to know exactly what to do - you need resources (eg. for investigation, tests, etc.), don't you? As far as research into the nature of the problem is concerned, there is no shortage of resources in Solms. Or Rochester, for that matter.

Olsen Posted January 26, 2011 Author Share #26 Posted January 26, 2011 Checking other threads on this issue, I see that this Red Left Side is occuring in 'bright sunlight' and often with snow. My early morning test is worthless. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/153831-m9-red-edge-redux-part-ii-2.html
vanhulsenbeek Posted January 26, 2011 Share #27 Posted January 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) That won't add nor change a thing. The CV 15 was, and is, fine on the M8. It has well established problems on the M9. Also well established is that the WATE shines on the M9. Count your blessings!
Jerry_R Posted January 26, 2011 Share #28 Posted January 26, 2011 Also well established is that the WATE shines on the M9 Keep the facts, unfortunately - not for all users of our forum. Another words - not on all M9s.

vanhulsenbeek Posted January 26, 2011 Share #31 Posted January 26, 2011 You are writing about this thread? http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/160015-m9-w-wate-1ds-iii-w.html#post1572669 That is not about a lens-color issue, but about a White Balance issue Or this one? http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/155630-wide-add-lens-set-m9-2.html#post1553533 Opinions go all over the place, but indeed one Forum Member has a red-edge issue. Well, I do not have that. Lots of good opinions too. But then; good news is no news Certainly not on this Forum, as it seems to me! If you do not like the lens, sell it! mn4367 Posted January 26, 2011 Share #32 Posted January 26, 2011 [quote name=Olsen;1590814 ... So' date=' the M9 Red Edge is a problem we have to live with because Leica don't have the resources to fix it.... ... [/quote] At least it seems they had the resources to fix this problem for most if not all Leica lenses via coding (even if the solution maybe not perfect for all lenses). IMO they can't be made responsible for problems with lenses of other manufacturers. The red edge issue with those lenses can be fixed in most cases with CornerFix (or other techniques like a some mask in LR).

Jerry_R Posted January 27, 2011 Share #34 Posted January 27, 2011 C1, LCC profiling is so easy and fast... Yes, especially for people using LR I know, I know, Cornerfix...
Mauribix Posted January 27, 2011 Share #35 Posted January 27, 2011 Seems like WATE will be pouring down soon... I'm waiting with my umbrella upside-down to get the most out of this rain.
jaapv Posted January 27, 2011 Share #36 Posted January 27, 2011 Yes, especially for people using LR I know, I know, Cornerfix... OT- there are many people using both -they integrate well.
Jerry_R Posted January 27, 2011 Share #37 Posted January 27, 2011 many people using both Yes, I still would prefer bundled soft to work, like other many users probably too. Adobe already AGREED with OLYMPUS and PANASONIC for embeded software corrections to their u43 RAW files. After some time - Adobe started to benefit from the mechanism by offering it to all cameras. I really hope - that one day Adobe will implement kind of LCC in LR\ACR.
Washington Posted February 2, 2011 Share #38 Posted February 2, 2011 Oh Lord, am I ever tired of this stupidity. It is clear that this camera design is gong to have this so called "problem" because it has too. It's a given. Leica didn't think a narrow M body was possible but yet worked it out anyway. What the hell is the matter with you people? Did you buy this contraption doing no homework at all and then expect PUR-FECT-ON right out of the camera simply because it said LEICA on it? And, then you can't be bothered to do the SIMPLE post-processing necessary to fix it? ( And yet people are offended when I say get a point and shoot) Phooey on you sissies. You don't appreciate a real innovative design because you want to whine about "problems". I have never owned a single camera without "problems" by your definition. (p.s. go get mad and see if I care)
Olsen Posted February 2, 2011 Author Share #39 Posted February 2, 2011 Washington, Yes, I do feel stupid having paid almost 6,000 $ for a camera with a serious design flaw. I did expect that M9 would be up to my 1Ds III in quality. Silly, of me.
viramati Posted February 2, 2011 Share #40 Posted February 2, 2011 In reality this problem can be fixed 99% of the time and quite easily even in LR3. I have set up a preset using the graduated filter tool and the colour dropper so now with 1 click the problem is solved
