Yes it does look nice and it was very overcast. I only put it through to test the focus calibration of a new lens but perhaps I'll use it more. I'd almost binned it after getting some developed by Peak imaging. That film was used on a very different day and I wasn't too keen on the colours. When developed by Snaps in Bournmouth it seems very nice.

It's quite a grainy film.

I really miss Kodachrome... damn it.

I've forgotten how good the Kodak Gold films look. Portra is really great, but the Gold series has a really nice signature.

Digital has come a long way. My new D600 get about 12-13 stops and is starting to look a lot like film, but there is something to be said about color negative. There is a richness to it that is just superb.

That film looks really nice - or was it the lovely subdued autumn light?

I feel I wouldn't get nice colours and microcontrast like that out of a digital camera and my processing. This is what keeps me shooting film.

EDIT: @Thrid. We posted simultaneously. That's good to know (re D600). I'm hoping the Leica M will be trying for that film look.

I adjusted the Peak Imaging scan above. I think it looks better with less green. I'd say it is very good value T £1 for 36 exposures. I'll have to stock up.

Re Pete's adjustment of the pic, I feel the best colour balance is between the the original and Pete's removal of green. It is now too warm for the image. I always ignore 'true' colour. I aim for the 'best' emotinal colour. this, of course, will vary for everyone.

So much for computer screens!

Pico, I see your adjustment as better, but too magenta.

Again, to my eye I think a better balance is between the two.

Not talking about 'correct' but 'eye pleasing', wrt to perceived location atmosphere.

Kodak ColorPlus 200

£1 for 36exp from Poundland

Pete

Trudged into town this afternoon and found that Poundland Swindon (there's posh!) had AgfaPhoto Vista Plus colour neg ISO 200 36exp @ £1 each. Expiry Feb 2015. Pushed the boat out and bought ten (!), nine of which are now in the freezer. The default role of my IIIg will now become colour. Well, that is the intention but depends on the results of the first roll of colour film that I have used in it (FujiColor Superior X-tra 400, which cost me considerably more than a £1!), finished it off today and will be sending it to AG PhotoLab shortly. I was curious to see how the 1957 Elmar 5cm f3.5 handles colour, as I have so far only used the camera for b&w.

I did the same. :DIt's nice film. In fact I think I bought 20 but it troubles me to know there are about 100 still on the shelf :D

Just loaded the first roll of AgfaPhoto Vista Plus colour neg ISO 200 (bought from Poundland last week) into my IIIg. Trimming the leader, the film seems to be noticeably thinner and flimsier than the Fuji film that I finished off last week. My first thought was that it was manufactured in one of the older East European plants but according to the box, it is made in Japan.

Pete/anyone else who has used it - did you have the same impression regarding the thinness/flimsiness of the film-base?

I've only just started to use film again and have got a M4 and a M6 as backup to my M9 (couldn't make up my mind which I wanted, but I think Ill keep the M6). This was the first film I tried as I reasoned at £1 a go it wouldn't be a big deal If I spoilt it ;)

Next tried some Kentmere 400 (also my first home development/scan attempt) :)

Next two are from some Agfa APX 100. Again home developed and scanned.

All new to me so comments welcome.
