Thanks. I was just wondering if it would still focus to infinity.

Focuses quite fine on the Nex (I bought a cheap-o adapter from eBay).

I did discover a trick for other newbees...

When you focus to infinity with the goggles off, there is a click and focus is stuck at infinity.

The good news is, that if you press the ball bearing at the top of the lens, the infinity lock disengages and you can focus again.

I would love to post pictures take with Nex+Summaron but I am not sure where to post (or if you are allowed on this site as the equipment is not 100% Leica).

you can post in the international photo forum here

I usually mention that i'm using a canon with R lenses to keep the purists happy.

Non-Leica body with Leica lens is perfectly within the rules of the forum (so as Leica body with non-Leica lenses... lot of examples with CV and Zeiss...) , so we wait for your pictures !!! Personally, if you have it, I'd like also a comparision with the std. Sony zoom at 35mm... ;)

Here is a picture of the Nex-5 with the Leica Summaron 35mm.

Although it is small, it weighs a ton!

I would advise a nice 2.8 summaron, it weighs quite a bit less.

The 28mm 5,6... is so nicely compact, and an excellent lens too... on a APS sensor with a 1,5 crop I suppose it can be really good even wide open (well... "wide-not-so-wide" :o)

Have I missed something? Why would it perform well on a NEX when short focal length Leica lenses don't do so well on my G1 Micro 4/3, my 35 Summicron is lovely in the middle but a lot softer at the corners than a 35mm Nikkor AF.

50mm upwards work a treat though.

Sorry... I have no direct experience on cropped sensors (apart M8... ;))... I simply thought that the vignetting which I did observed when I used it onto my M4, and was already reduced on M8, should be indeed almost unnoticeable on a APS size sensor.

Summaron 28 is of a generation from which one cannot pretend top sharpness (the Elmarit 28 is far superior in this sense) but I have always appreciated its "middle" contrast... indeed, I consider it as the 28mm which most resembles a classic Elmar 50.
