Advertisement Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Hi mkillmer, Take a look here Need help to have a happy Leica Cristmas.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted December 24, 2010 Share #2 Â Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) If it comes off, it possibly won't focus properly. Â That model was specifically designed for use on a 1950s M3, which didn't bring have 35mm framelines. The additional "goggles" enlarged the viewfinder image so that the 50mm framelines could be used instead. Â I would see if I could get my money back, if I were you. Sorry! luigi bertolotti Posted December 24, 2010 Share #5  Posted December 24, 2010 If it comes off, it possibly won't focus properly.  No problem of focusing, I think, onto a Nex... you haven't a optical rangefinder to couple with...

jc_braconi Posted December 24, 2010 Share #9 Â Posted December 24, 2010 No problem of focusing, I think, onto a Nex... you haven't a optical rangefinder to couple with... May be you cannot turn it to lock due to the handling protusion.
gyoung Posted December 24, 2010 Share #10 Â Posted December 24, 2010 Thanks. I was just wondering if it would still focus to infinity. Â I would have thought infinity would be allright? Its the cam angle which is different to non goggled lenses, and thats irrelevant to the NEX, and the Panasonics too, I'll try my Summicron on the G1 when I get home after Christmas. Â Happy Christmas to all, Gerry
luigi bertolotti Posted December 24, 2010 Share #11  Posted December 24, 2010 (edited) May be you cannot turn it to lock due to the handling protusion.  I think not (Nex is vaguely intriguing me and I made some considerations about...)... the std. 18-55 lens has a diameter of 62mm... Nex body is 58,8mm high... Summaron 3,5 is around 51-52 diameter... the infinity lock protrudes no more than 5mm from the collar... ought to result something around these two rough photoshoppings (with two other Summarons, indeed...) mkillmer Posted December 25, 2010 Author Share #14 Â Posted December 25, 2010 Actually, it works fine with the goggle on, but ugggh, what a look! I will try and try again - I'll let you know my success - or otherwise Merry Christmas from Australia!
mkillmer Posted December 25, 2010 Author Share #15 Â Posted December 25, 2010 Still no luck .... It feels like there is a spring inside, because the goggles return to the same position when I let go. There is a small half circle in the back of the goggle where is meets the lens (beneath "Made in Germany") - do I need to insert something in there? jc_braconi Posted December 25, 2010 Share #18  Posted December 25, 2010 It is strange that you have been able to remove the screw usualy it stops at the release point. can you post a pict about this screw may the end part is broken and stays in the goggle so it stays stuck. see how it is unmounted : Welcome, dear visitor!
