the app is meant for architecture landscape etc...... most buildings aren't going anywhere fast ( well the ones without wheels),......... anyway it is more of a mental guide.

Showing f/16 as the sharpest aperture might seem somewhat questionable for digital cameras at first glance. What are the plusses of this tool compared to lens DoF markings in your opinion?

The nice thing about the app is that it takes into account output print resolution at 10" and the tradeoff in diffraction from stopping down. So it's very interesting overall, and beyond the DOF guides on the lens in any case....

Of course, I rarely shoot this way. But for buildings and landscapes, it's useful for sure.

I don't see how OptimumCS can claim to be accurate since it doesn't take into account the size of sensor, which has a major influence on zones of sharpness.

"OptimumCS’s intuitive operation and instant results are geared towards the needs of creative professionals and enthusiasts who don’t want their tools to get in the way of their work or their art." But isn't OptimumCS, itself, a tool that's getting in the way?

I won't be buying it but thanks for the link anyway, Imants.

Imants, it's not you or the actual program (or the exorbitant cost) that's the problem (i love when people give a heads up to stuff like this)... it's the grandiose hyperbole they used in their description (modern era my @$$) that begs to be ridiculed.

my boyfriend found a lovely metering app that i'm definitely going to install (it's definitely my weakest point). not to use whilst shooting, but as a teaching tool... it's all good!

Hell I am still using the Nokia 8210..........I think 1999 is when it came out which means I have one somewhere or my wife gives me a phone that I usually forget to put on............... yearly bill $15 dollars and I usually only use up about $7 so $2.49 is big bickies for me for something I can't use

Take a look at the app settings - selectable for any film width / sensor size up to 90mm
