Should I send my "new" M8.2 for a check up?

Hello everyone, I recently acquired a used M8.2 in near new condition with less than 1800 actuations from a Leica premier dealer in Florida US.

Currently the camera performs flawlessly but I was just informed by Leica it will be out of warranty by the end of December 10.

My question is, is it worth sending the camera to Leica for a general inspection/calibration/service? I also hope to get a 1 year extension of the warranty from this.

Any advise appreciated.

If it is flawless and has low 'mileage' there is no reason to send it.

Presumably the balance of the original warranty has been transferred to you as the second owner then?

If you send it for a CLA service now while in warranty the extra 12 months warranty should start when your current warranty runs out.

Out of warranty the 12 months guarantee on entire camera would start from the service date.

Check with Leica Camera, but I think that the cost of a servicing (not repair) would be same in both cases.
