I allways used a M6 as rangefinder and a R8 as a reflex Analog. The DMR I found to expensive so I bought a M8.

now I can buy a VisoflexIII, but can I use the normal lenses like the 28mm, 35mm 50mm or 75mm and 90mm (those m's I have :D)

Will it be a tele or a macro? Does it work like the extensiontubes of the R or the macro-R adapter?

I would not advise a 28 or 35. They will in most cases block the mirror, so can only be used with the mirror locked up. The 50 mm lenses and longer can be used as (pretty good) macro lenses directly on the Visoflex. If you have lenses with a detachable head (135 and 90) they can be used normally on the Universalschnecke. Specific V-mount lenses can be used without restriction, sometimes with an appropriate adapter.

Thx Jaap for your fast reply.

Macro, nice. :D And what do I need for tele (if I want that in a later stage)? Just an adapter or totally different lenses? I stop at 90mm with the rangefinder, but If I can use 135 and more can be fun.

The older telyt-V 200 and 280 need the 16466 adapter, the newest versions go directly onto the Visoflex ( I have a spare 16466 should you need one) Other Telyts (400-560-800) V will fit directly onto the Visoflex.

The lens heads of the unscrewable 135/4.0 and 90 mm lenses go either onto the Universalschnecke or onto the bellows to focus to infinity.

Take care not to try and adapt R lenses, they will if used with an R-M ring not focus to infinity, but will do macro.

With the adapter 16469 you can use 35 am 50mm M-lenses on the Visoflex. Though I wouldn't recommend this: you must be very close to the object and you have just a focussing range of a few millimeters; from what I have seen, the results are not very convincing.

The lenses which were originally thought for the Visoflex, i.e. the 3.5/65 Elmar, or the lens heads of 90 and 135mm-lenses together with the 16464-mount are much more useful for macro with better results.

Here is a chart of how the Visoflex system goes together: http://static.photo.net/attachments/bboard/00K/00KsG9-36169584.jpg

Basically, there are 5 types of lenses for the Viso:

> "regular" M lenses 35-50mm, which will be macro lenses on the Viso (.33x or .5x life-size)

> 1960's-era M lenses with removable heads (90-135), which will focus to infinity if the separate heads are used with Viso focusing rings - generally these cover the same range they do used normally with RF focusing.

> the Viso-only Elmar 65mm macro lens - focuses from infinity down to 33cm (1/6th life-size)

> Viso-only lenses from 200mm to 560mm, which cover a "normal" focus range just like SLR telephotos. Infinity down to 2-3 meters

> "Photar" lenses designed for extreme macro (3x to 16x life-size) and often in very short focal lengths (e.g 12.5mm)

Note that ANY M lens 35-135 - i.e. a brand-new APO 35, 50, 75, 90, or 135 of today - will fit and work on the Viso even though they do not have the removable heads. But they will be limited to close-focusing.
