The polar bear, a descendant of the grizzly bear (which is an omnivore vs. U. Maritimus being a carnivore) fasts most of the year 'round, and begins to congregate in various places northerly awaiting the sea ice to form so they can go out of the ice, hunt seals, double their weight and mate on the ice. They can smell their prey up to 32 kilometers away, and walk nearly triple that distance on any given day. Probably the best place to view polar bears in the wild is around Churchill on Hudson Bay in Manitoba, between mid October and mid November, when nearly 1,000 of them await the freeze..

Thank you. Both of these are with R8/DMR/80-200 and APO 2X extender. I have other shots made with the D2 that are genuinely close, and perhaps I'll post some of those soon.
