During SF's bygone shipping era, this assembly protected the wharf structure from damage. M9, 28mm Elmarit M.

I'm leaning toward b-w, but the rust colors have me undecided. Many thanks for having a look.

Great composition, sharpness and color/tones. Both are good but I like the b&w version better. I think it gives a better atmospheric feel to it.

The is rust tasty (color wise) but the BW makes a more dramatic statement - more of a story. IMHO.

I wonder how many vessels bore the scars of an encounter with this structure. Even in its present condition it has the all the massive presence of the proverbial immovable object.

 

For me, the colour version is the winner. The sky is just the right shade of blue to set off the orange of the rust stains and I think the modern buildings in the background point the contrast with the old wharf better in colour. Either way, it’s a very enjoyable photo.

I can't decide either! Perhaps a touch more black with the levels slider and I might vote that way.

 

Nice angle; having access to a boat has allowed you to show us some "different" viewpoints.

and the Bank of America building, if memory serves me right,

from down around Pier 31 while bobbing about in your boat.

I agree and would add that the b&w appeals to me just a bit more. Very well done.

I really like the colour version. I think the red stain comes through very nicely and adds to the character of the photograph.
