JHAG Posted October 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just received my DMR. It's almost new, only had 1600 actuations. A detail bothers me though : when fitting the back, no problem, it's perfectly flush with the body. Instead, when fitting the power unit and even after tightening the fastening screw, there is still a slit between the body and the PU (I even can insert a credit card in it and I see the connector pins. Advertisement Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Hi JHAG, Take a look here DMR. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
roguewave Posted October 22, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2010 Johan, have you taken any frames as yet? There is a good size space between the 2 components. I don't know how wide, but there is a gap. You will love this kit.
JHAG Posted October 22, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted October 22, 2010 Yes, I spoke with the seller and he confirmed it was normal. A bit distrubinh though : in wet condition, I would fear for the contacts. Wonder if I'm not looking for some professional way to fill the gap (I hate adhesive band). No real shots yet, just a few tests for WB. I have to find the right balance — after quite some time with M7 and M9 (which really look like pocket books), not used to a big beast anymore (which feels like I was handling a big Bible — oh Lord protect me from evil images…) http://www.metacafe.com/watch/5284751/the_night_of_the_hunter_movie_trailer/
topoxforddoc Posted October 22, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2010 You shouldn't be able to fit a credit card between the power unit and body. If you align it correctly, it fits like a glove. I would take it apart and have another go at it. It is my favourite piece of kit. Yes, I love my Ms, but the DMR is something else. Enjoy!
JHAG Posted October 22, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted October 22, 2010 Charlie, I redid it 3 times. Everything fits into place neatly, no difficulty whatsoever. Just that gap remains. I'll post a pic tomorrow. Possible cause : I just noticed the kind of patterned black "mat" surrounding the screwhole where you screw the tripod (and the screw of the power unit) is very slightly bulging. Could it be the culprit ?
