Advertisement Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Hi decay2000, Take a look here [ask] is M6 spot metering? center weight? matrix?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoppyman Posted October 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted October 16, 2010 It is not matrix. It is a simple system. A circular central area the cloth shutter has a white dot on it and it is measured from that.. The size of the circle is always about 2/3rds of the short side of the frame lines you are using. kivis Posted October 19, 2010 Share #4 Posted October 19, 2010 The simple answer is center weight.
hoppyman Posted October 19, 2010 Share #5 Posted October 19, 2010 Simple providing you remember that the metered area proportion varies with the frame lines too
too old to care Posted October 19, 2010 Share #6 Posted October 19, 2010 Simple providing you remember that the metered area proportion varies with the frame lines too You know, I never thought of that, thanks.
hoppyman Posted October 19, 2010 Share #7 Posted October 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Probably I should have said more clearly that the proportion of the metered area compared to the total viewfinder area varies. For any given focal length you have the same proportion of the framelines for that focal length of course. I guess that (large) spot metering is the best description for the OP. But the illustration from the M6 instruction book explains it most clearly.
JBA Posted October 20, 2010 Share #8 Posted October 20, 2010 Someone here once quite aptly described it as a "fat spot meter."
