Advertisement Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Hi unitedhowl, Take a look here New Black X1 at Photokina?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
georgio Posted September 23, 2010 Share #42 Posted September 23, 2010 Yup, to me the functionality is key. I am not bothered with colors, etc, etc. But if it doesnt cost us more to have a better looking camera why not? CJ Sure why not, I love a nice looking camera too, I just mentioned it here because I sometimes have the feeling, that the discussions here are more about the looks, than about what it does, compared to other brands forums. And that's interesting, not something negative. GEO
h00ligan Posted September 24, 2010 Share #43 Posted September 24, 2010 I guess I'm in the minority, I prefer the looks of the original..of course black paint in az just make things hotter too (marginal). Still, I find the original edition to look more retro, more pleasing to me. I guess sales numbers we will never see will indicate true public opinion..maybe we can see based on availability. Stevez4 Posted September 26, 2010 Share #46 Posted September 26, 2010 According to the forum moderator Leica is working on an upgrade. I hope it will solve the sluggish autofocus and shutter issues. In a message andy told me that the specifics are on the forum. The question is where. We owners need an upgrade to fix the flaws. Don't you agree? The issues are real and impact all of those who purchased the X1.

phancj Posted September 27, 2010 Share #52 Posted September 27, 2010 Don't think they'll ever stop when it's so profitable. Okay, leica, you win. We need emerald green, purple, pink, camo and monogram ones. Make sure they're expensive enough so more people may buy them, and give the rest of us a little break, those who go for the "normal" version. earleygallery Posted September 28, 2010 Share #55 Posted September 28, 2010 That all black X1 looks very toy like to me, I'm sure it's better 'in the flesh'. To be fair I think some Leica owners do buy their cameras for the looks or as a fashion statement, rather like people who wear designer clothes which have the name plastered all over them. Nothing wrong if that's your thing. Good design is about making something that's ergonomic and functional first. For me the X1 fails on a few points, particularly the choice of a collapsing lens which is unecessary (it's not a zoom, it will help to force dust onto the sensor in time, uses battery power and will cause delays when wanting to take grab shots). It's a shame that Leica concentrated too much in making a camera that looks like an O series original and not on the functionality IMHO.

I always look at my X1 with the lens collapsed and wish that it just worked that way...
RichardM8 Posted September 29, 2010 Share #57 Posted September 29, 2010 Technically there's no way around the extending lens vs. the size of the sensor. Sensor dust remains to be seen but is unlikely imo. Let's discuss when it actually proves to be a problem...
