I just got a mail from Phase One, the update Capture One 5.2 supports the X1. Have fun my friends :)

.....and as usual their website, which I assume is hosted on a Sinclair ZX81 and cassette tape deck, is not even responding to log in's.

Thanks for the update. Would you care to shed some light on why should Capture One be considered in view of Lightroom that is already included with X1? Any information would be appreciated.

Ravinj,

There is a substantial body of folks like me, who have grown up with Capture one since the early days of digital. I have been using it since I had a Contax ND on Beta test for various firmware issues in 2002. For the first time since using it with Leica cameras, I feel it has fallen slightly behind LR/ACR for its "out-of-the-box" results and its standard M9 profile needs an update. If I was going to Photokina, which is probably 80+% unlikely due to other commitments at around the same time at the other end of Europe, I would try and track down Jakub and ask for the profile to be given some TLC. That said I have not yet been able to download V5.2 and it may have been tweaked but I doubt it. V5 Pro has some spectacular features in very delicate selective colour control and the face tint tool is probably the best out there. IMO unless you are a full time pro or a Capture One fan, there is currently little reason to stray from LR3. I will stay with C1, mainly because I find it quicker to use than LR and I am very used to it.
