anabasis Posted September 12, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted September 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is there any optical difference between the 3-cam version and the ROM version of the 100mm f2.8 macro APO Elmarit? Â I understand the differences between the cam verses ROM for R-lenses, but I am wondering if they reformulated the lens when they made the conversion. Â Thanks for the help. anabasis Posted September 19, 2010 Author Share #5  Posted September 19, 2010 Superb lens and hard to believe was first available in 1987 ie 23 years ago. dunk  That seems to be when mine was made. By the serial number, it was one of the first 50 lenses produced (according to the Puts tables I found through this forum online).  The next question for those with the ROM version. Not that it matters too much, but I notice that the effective aperture of the lens is not displayed in the viewfinder as I focus closer with the 3-cam, although the meter on my R8 compensates for this nicely in automatic mode. Does the effective aperture get displayed with the ROM lens?  I am quite pleased with the relatively small change in focal length as you approach 1:2 magnification. With my other macro lenses, the focus changes quite dramatically towards the minimum focus distance.  Thanks for the information.  Jeremy
