chris_tribble Posted September 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Who'd believe that it's only a year since 9/9/2009. For the fun of it I've posted a set of images to my flickr: 12 months - Leica M9 - a set on Flickr If any others are interested in sharing it might be quite fun to celebrate the range of things it's been possible to do with these little cameras... And yes, neither of the bodies have skipped a beat throughout the 12 months. Best.

jlancasterd Posted September 9, 2010 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2010 I wonder how many have been sold in the first year?
k_g_wolf ✝ Posted September 9, 2010 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2010 As a rough guess: 10,000 (+) Best regards GEORG

UliWer Posted September 9, 2010 Share #7 Posted September 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) As a rough guess: 10,000 (+) Best regards GEORG About 12.000 was the number Mr. Daniel gave in the video interview with Reichmann et al. for the different Ms including the M8 in the past. So perhaps their expectation was 15.000M9 in the first year. As the demand exceeded Leica's own exspectation by large, I would not guess less than 20.000. The list for backorders doesn't seem to be too long now. The most important Leica dealer in Germany today sent a newsletter, saying that average waiting time for a M9 is one week now. glacierparkmagazine Posted September 10, 2010 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2010 I've hiked about 300 miles this year with one. Here's a slideshow with some of the images: 100 miles in Glacier National Park The scenics are taken with an M9 and 21 elmarit mm asph. The wildlife with a Nikon 200-400. There's lots of Leica shots on my blog here:Glacier Park Blog I use it everyday. Leica glass is great stuff.
chris_tribble Posted September 10, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted September 10, 2010 Some lovely work here - with both systems. Good to see someone else who mixes the kit when they're working. I use Canon 5D2 with long glass + the M9 with wide (mostly 28 Cron Asph) for a lot of documentary work. It's a perfect combination for me and makes a massive difference to the amount of weight you have to carry and the flexibility of the approach you can adopt. Never a case of either/or. chris_tribble Posted September 11, 2010 Author Share #15 Posted September 11, 2010 I'm going to be in France for a couple of weeks - visiting some friends and then trekking in the Pyrenees. Guess which cameras I'll be taking with me... I'd still like to see some contrasting Leica Year's from other members of the list though...
Alnitak Posted September 12, 2010 Share #16 Posted September 12, 2010 Great idea, Chris. You inspired me to put together my own set. I've only had my M9 ten months as of today, but it's close enough to a year. I did a lot of traveling, so I have a lot of images, and I had trouble keeping the set small--it's got 101 image, basically ten per month. 12 Months with the Leica M9 - a set on Flickr Jeff
