Advertisement Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Hi newnew, Take a look here The prairie-1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
pop Posted August 1, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 1, 2010 NewNew That's an utterly lovely patch of ground. I wonder if you could have taken a step back in order to include more of the group of what looks like Erika in the foreground. Is this taken in Switzerland, and may we call you New, BTW? newnew Posted August 1, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted August 1, 2010 Philipp, This was taken in Brittany ,France . The plant you call Erika was not so much spread. The idea was to put the purple of these flowers against the soft yellow of the rest. I was lucky with the late afternoon light. Yes you may call me New - it is more efficient but you will loose the rhyme ! NewN
pauledell Posted August 2, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 2, 2010 NewNew, Stunning colors with great composition and clarity. A lovely soothing mood. Paul
daveleo Posted August 2, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 2, 2010 this is very pretty, and i know how tough it is to get greens right (i can't do it) . . . . if i had to complain, i wish their was an anchor point somewhere in the frame.
newnew Posted August 2, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted August 2, 2010 Dave, Paul Thanks for the comments. Agree with the missing anchor point. I think I just snapped it as a non figurative patch of colors. NewN
stuny Posted August 2, 2010 Share #7 Posted August 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) NN - Lovely light, color and mood. And if we do call you "New" should it be the first or last "New?"
jaapv Posted August 2, 2010 Share #8 Posted August 2, 2010 I see the idea, quite good. But I think you should put a black point somewhere, to get better contrast.
biglouis Posted August 2, 2010 Share #9 Posted August 2, 2010 Nice composition and processing. Well done.
Louis Posted August 2, 2010 Share #10 Posted August 2, 2010 A gorgeous shot!... If Monet was a photographer, this is how I imagine his photography!
newnew Posted August 2, 2010 Author Share #11 Posted August 2, 2010 Louis, Yes this could be a painting, The brushstrokes are nearly there as well as the color patches. Thinking about the "anchoring point" , actually the eye has to move across the picture like the wind movements on the prairie and not stay static. This is another way of looking at it. Stu, Let's see . The first "New" is already starting to be pretty old . So probably this would be the last "New" ! I have adopted this name for the first year, to ask for forgiveness to present my work in this very high quality Forum. NNew
daveleo Posted August 2, 2010 Share #12 Posted August 2, 2010 . . . Thinking about the "anchoring point" , actually the eye has to move across the picture like the wind movements on the prairie and not stay static. This is another way of looking at it. the anchoring point issue is probably a fault of the viewer (me) more than the artist (you). you do have me thinking about this now . . . . newnew Posted August 2, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted August 2, 2010 Dave, You raise a good point . This is the eternal question of "intention" and "perception" , the whole question of communicating between individuals. An impression given by the moment makes me take the picture which creates , maybe the same but maybe a different experience in the viewer's minds, based on each individual's own set of experiences . Obviously an "objective look" at these herbs is not the point in this picture nearly without subject. So, Louis is right . This is - I also find out through this discussion- an impressionist photograph (not to compare with Monet's genius !! - bien sur). NNew
daveleo Posted August 2, 2010 Share #14 Posted August 2, 2010 being ever so ready to start a fire, i raised this topic over in Barnack's Bar. one can barely imagine what will happen there.
allamande Posted August 3, 2010 Share #15 Posted August 3, 2010 It's a beautiful impressionistic photograph. This is the eternal question of "intention" and "perception" , the whole question of communicating between individuals. An impression given by the moment makes me take the picture which creates , maybe the same but maybe a different experience in the viewer's minds, based on each individual's own set of experiences . NNew This is the eternal question, and the gap between the two has some consequences for our daily existence and affects the way we navigate our world.
