Tina Manley Posted February 3, 2011 Share #142 Posted February 3, 2011 Looks great! Both the first and second section are named "People". Should the second one be "Children" Thanks! Tina

jlancasterd Posted February 3, 2011 Share #144 Posted February 3, 2011 Bill One of my images (the locomotive cylinder block being machined) looks pretty grainy too - is this due to compression for the PDF, or do I need to do something to the image? The original looks OK despite being high-ISO.
sfage Posted February 3, 2011 Share #145 Posted February 3, 2011 You did a pile of work upon that Bill. We all really appreciate your effort!

wparsonsgisnet Posted February 3, 2011 Author Share #147 Posted February 3, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) John, do you want to send me a tiff? I'll convert it and send you the jpg for approval. I see the grain in the image I have. You could use yousendit. spylaw4 Posted February 3, 2011 Share #148 Posted February 3, 2011 Tina, the first is (big) PEOPLE and the second section is (little) people. Please suggest what you would like to see. Took me a while to get that! A great piece of work, Bill - well done! Am I being picky, but is there perhaps one too many blank pages at the changeover from 'PEOPLE' to 'people'? Compare with the change from 'people' to 'People in Places' et seq.? Regards
wparsonsgisnet Posted February 3, 2011 Author Share #149 Posted February 3, 2011 Brian, yeah, it's a problem. Most of the images are set in pairs, and in the case of the end of Places, in a set of several pix with tall or obelisque-shaped buildings in them. I'll take another peak and see if some white pages can be eliminated. That's useful. Thanks. Took me a while to get that! A great piece of work, Bill - well done! wparsonsgisnet Posted February 3, 2011 Author Share #150 Posted February 3, 2011 Lots of participants are pleased. Based on the last book, you're really gonna be pleased. Last time it took about 5 months from start to end (I learned some tricks) and, even tho I was *intimately* familiar with the images, when the printed book arrived I saw things I hadn't seen on the computer screen. We definitely have to print to see and improve our pictures. Several people see unwanted grain in their images and this is being addressed. I've received all the images that were not big enuf before or the one that had a frame border around it. The next one should look pretty good. I'll also check out the white page issue. I'm working on the appendix. That'll be uploaded to Carl as a spreadsheet for your verification. These pix are even better than last time. Many thanks to all and best regards,

trs Posted February 4, 2011 Share #153 Posted February 4, 2011 This is not a camera specific thread, so is in the Customer section, where threads of general interest are placed. M8 owners are encouraged to read and contribute to every section in the forum. At Bill's request, I have made this a sticky once again, as he gets to the end of his task, so that people know that he is nearly finished. It will be unstuck at a later date. If every request for a sticky was made, the front page in every section would be full of stick threads, so they come and go as they are appropriate. Andy and Bill, it was by no means a complaint. Thanks for prompt response. It's just my miss I don't go outside M8 forum. It was just my wish that V1 of the book was originated as M8 forum, thus I thought was appropriate to have the sticky there (at least M8/9) due to its legacy. Bill, all kudos to you for taking the hard work again. Looking forward to the book again. Thanks.

SJP Posted February 5, 2011 Share #156 Posted February 5, 2011 Hi Bill, Many thanks for all your hard work. The book looks great! Only one minor point: If I use the two-page view as suggested it seems that the pictures on the right hand side pages are too close to the binding. I think they all need to be moved to the right i.e. closer to the edge of the page. Maybe my pdf viewer is messing things up - if so my apologies. regards Stephen
wparsonsgisnet Posted February 5, 2011 Author Share #157 Posted February 5, 2011 Hi Bill, Many thanks for all your hard work. The book looks great! I think they all need to be moved to the right i.e. closer to the edge of the page. Maybe my pdf viewer is messing things up - if so my apologies. regards Stephen Stephen, my viewer shows the images on both pages slewed to the left. In my viewer, however, there are boxes around the images. These show the actual page that will appear in the book. I'll pay close attention when my first copy comes. wparsonsgisnet Posted February 9, 2011 Author Share #160 Posted February 9, 2011 The second draft of the book is available for download. This includes higher res pix in a few cases, and substitution of lower-grain shots for some. Go here (remember it's a big download): bretteville.com | Many Eyes, One Camera 2011 Please check pictures that you were worried about. I am working on the Appendix (where have you heard that before?). Regards to all,
