Advertisement Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Hi JBC, Take a look here Cheetah before sunset.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted July 21, 2010 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2010 Juergen - As a landscape that happens to have two cheetah (siblings? mother and cub?) it is a beautiful composition with lovely depth, light and color.
allamande Posted July 21, 2010 Share #3 Posted July 21, 2010 Gorgeous light and fantastic landscape. It looks like a painting with lush tones. I wish we were a bit closer to the cats. Ece
davidhunternyc Posted July 21, 2010 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2010 Gorgeous photograph. I wish the cats were out of the picture altogether. That landscape needs no support.
stuny Posted July 21, 2010 Share #5 Posted July 21, 2010 David - Give it a few minutes and either lions or poachers will remove them.
JBC Posted July 22, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted July 22, 2010 Thank you all for the comments, I am glad you like the photo. The cheetah's were in fact very sleepy, I had to wait some time until one of them stood up. Juergen
stuny Posted July 22, 2010 Share #7 Posted July 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Juergen - Most cats sleep a great deal (lions typically 20 hours a day), though I don't know the stats for cheetah. However, "the chase" uses up enormous energy, so the most common way to see cheetah are asleep, resting, or sitting on a slightly higher spot scanning for their next meal. They are among my favorite animals.
JBC Posted July 23, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted July 23, 2010 I think Cheetah's are great animals, fastest on earth with 120 km/h, and 0-100km in 3 seconds, I am still wating to some day get in a car that fast! thanks for all your coments Juergen
andit Posted July 26, 2010 Share #9 Posted July 26, 2010 Hi Juergen, Judging by the vegetation in the background, it looks very much like this was taken in the Sabie-Sands Game Reserve. Worked there for a long time, it was absolutely wonderful. Andreas
JBC Posted July 28, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted July 28, 2010 Hi Andreas, you are right, it is Sabie-Sands Game Reserve. I was there for two days, it was an incredible experience. I actually used the m8 pretty much since we could some times be very close to the animals. Landscape is alse very particular. thanks Juergen
drdannn Posted July 28, 2010 Share #11 Posted July 28, 2010 Really great photo.
robert_parker Posted July 28, 2010 Share #12 Posted July 28, 2010 The light and the composition is reminiscent of a painting and the aspect ratio of the image adds to the overall effect. I personally don't need to be any closer to the cheetahs - they inhabit part of the landscape, just as they would in a painting.
