Shot this and some others from the concert last weds in Birmingham - 14th row back in front block - R9/DMR 80-200/4 shot at f4 1/125th at ASA400 -2EV.

Great concert - best I've seen for a long time - spent the whole evening on my feet - FAB. Thanks for looking

You've managed to capture a touch of his intelligence and a touch of his sense of humor. Very nice. The Broadway show of his music is superb it you appreciate dance.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'll learn to tweak things more in photoshop with time. Sadly that may take some time. Work as a surgeon gives me little time at home, so what time I get is spent with my family and a nice glass of wine.

Louis,

all my shots are available light. concert security do not like flash at all - don't even pack it. whilst I still prefer to shoot with my M6 and 75 lux for available light, that just doesn't work when you're a mere paying mortal as you're too far from the stage. mine were shot with R9 DMR at ASA 400 -2EV with the 80-200 ROM wide open at f4 at 1/125th sec. when I get better at RAW converters and photoshop, I'll improve my final image (bit like when you've been hand printing mono for a while).

just be discrete and enjoy the gig

Charlie,

one thing I do not understand is: if you can shoot at ISO 400 with -2EV, why can't you shoot at ISO 200 without correction? Would'nt there be less noise? I'm not familiar at all with R9 and all the automatics (I use only M). Sorry if this question is stupid... There's probably something I don't understand here.

Thanks

Thomas

Thomas,

400 -2EV is the same as 1600 ASA. The noise on the DMR sensor is more prominent above ASA 400. at least that's what I picked up from others on the forum. I only take my camera out for fun. Fortunately I don't have to make a living out of it.
