chrisduff1 Posted June 5, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I frequently shoot from a tripod at low shutter speeds. The Leica shutter release cable is able to be attached to the shutter with one rotation of the cable or even less. The result is that it frequently comes off unexpectedly and sometimes requires a fair amount of pressure to release. The problem seems to be that the casing in which the shutter rests is minimal, giving little surface for the screw mount. Are there any other solutions so that achieve a stronger attachment and can trigger the shutter without impacting the camera? Is there an electronic release available... or an adapter that will provide a stronger attachment? This has been a frustration of mine for some time, and I'm eager to hear how others have handled this issue. Chris

Guest roey Posted June 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2010 I use the 2-second shutter delay instead of a cable when shooting with a tripod.
250swb Posted June 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 5, 2010 I use a release cable with a white outer sheath so (hopefully) I can find it again. Steve
jaapv Posted June 5, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 5, 2010 It depends on the cable. Novoflex for instance has the right (normed) thread and wont work loose.
Guest mc_k Posted June 6, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 6, 2010 I've had the Leica release for a couple of years, and not had this problem. You can secure the release with a Twist-tie through the strap lug, and I don't think you'll have this problem again.
Ed_K Posted June 7, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 7, 2010 I use a Rowi self-timer with my film Ms and seems to work fine, this type of gadget might not be easy to find nowadays i guess.

wlaidlaw Posted June 8, 2010 Share #8 Posted June 8, 2010 I am using a Minox metal mesh covered cable made during the Leica ownership era and it works just fine on M4, M8, M9 and Visoflex. Never come undone with me. Wilson
