andybarton Posted June 8, 2010 Author Share #42 Posted June 8, 2010 No fighting guys - plenty to go round We're making some good progress with publicity for the book. The AICR are about to send out a press release to all their contacts, and the book is already on their fundraising news web page, with a link to Blurb http://www.aicr.org.uk/LeicaCameraFundraiser.stm Ivor at RedDot will take a couple of copies to sell at no mark up in his shop and Leica UK have all the details on their website. Leica Mayfair will be buying copies to put in the store, and the Acadamy. (Working more on Solms now). http://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/ I had a very good meeting with someone with a million contacts this afternoon who will being doing a piece on it in the next week or so. More details to follow.

andybarton Posted June 9, 2010 Author Share #45 Posted June 9, 2010 74 orders as of 15:00 BST today, with 10 "fullfilled". Judging by my delivery experience from them, I would anticipate that the first of the deliveries will be arriving early next week. Unfortunately, the Blurb software doesn't allow any indication of where in the world the orders have come from, nor where they are being dispatched from, so if people could let us know on this thread, when the books arrive, we will be able to build up some sort of picture. Many thanks, and do tell your friends

johnnyj Posted June 11, 2010 Share #53 Posted June 11, 2010 Just received my copy. Put it out for the crew to view. They were all impressed by the quality of the book, the layout, the image selection and the professional and artistic images themselves. Many thanks to those that must have spent untold hours making this book right. Your labor of love is very much appreciated and recognized for the effort expended. There may be some things that you believe you could have done different but any self critique is far overshadowed by the beautiful results of your obvious hard work. Thank you. I'll be purchasing four more books.

stunsworth Posted June 11, 2010 Share #58 Posted June 11, 2010 Fingers crossed that we can pass 8000 GBP for the project as a whole. Many thanks to eveyone who's bought the book. It took a lot of effort to put it together, but it sounds as if it was worthwhile.
StS Posted June 11, 2010 Share #59 Posted June 11, 2010 My order is in since yesterday evening - I'm curious, where the book will be printed. I wonder, if they have several print shops over the world. My very big thanks to Bill, Andy, Steve and the rest of the project team for getting this up and running - such a project is an awful amount of work. stunsworth Posted June 11, 2010 Share #60 Posted June 11, 2010 Stefan, I believe the European books are printed in Spain. They do indeed have more than one printing location. When Blurb first became available to Europe all the books were still being printed in the US. The p&p were astronomical and often the cost of delivery was nearly as much, or more, as the cost of the book itself.
