I just installed the Capture One software that came with my M8, I've never used it before and can't seem to get it going. The tutorial which races through some steps with no sound at this point is uselesss. Can someone tell me how to import from the card reader so I can try it out?

Thanks,

Wilfredo,

Because the Win and Mac versions of Capture One (CO) are rather different, I suggest you mention in your question which one you use.

For a short answer on your question:

- Mac version: if you have started CO and insert the card, a New Media Detected dialog starts up automatically

- Windows version: the "Phase One Media Reader" downloading software is installed with CO; you can see an icon in the system tray (near the clock, lower right corner). The Media Reader works independent from whether CO is started or not.

Of course you can copy the files manually with Finder (Mac) or Explorer (Win) or with any other tool you are familiar with.

Hope this helps, otherwise keep asking for more!

Hi,

2 days ago I was very lucky as I had the opportunity to buy a Leica M8.

The person who ordered it was not interested anymore so I jumped in.

Presently I am learning to archieve reasonable results with DNG data and Capture One with slow progress..

I do also have a KonicaMinolta Dynax 7D equipment (which I am going to sell now) but I never really used it and if at all I was using jpg.

Now here comes my "stupid" question:

If I am using a program like Capture One what for do I need e.g. Photoshop?

Thanks in advance

Helmut

Good question. C1 does almost anything I need, but when it is necessary to do local things, like masked operations (classically, dodging and burning) or add stuff, like text, copyrights, frames -- then it is time for Photoshop.
