Advertisement Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Hi Guest Chris M, Take a look here SO? What RAW CONVERTER DO YOU USE? AND WHY?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jdlnmia Posted May 29, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2010 I use Aperture 3.0.
bad robot Posted May 29, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 29, 2010 According to the documentation, what ever is the latest version of light room. You can down load it twice. So I am waiting for LR3 to become available then download that for my second download

So I am waiting for LR3 to become available then download that for my second download Within a series...LR 1, 2 or 3...newer versions (e.g. LR 2.6 to 2.7) can be downloaded without cost. However, there will certainly be an upgrade cost from LR 2 to LR 3, just as there was from LR 1 to LR 2 ($99, I think). I would expect this upgrade to cost more. adan Posted May 29, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 29, 2010 I use Adobe Camera Raw because it opens files directly into Photoshop (and I use Photoshop because I use the graphics arts capabilities of PS and the rest of Creative Suite for things other than straight photography, so LR and Aperture don't cut it for me. Photo management is via Adobe Bridge).
250swb Posted May 30, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also use ACR because it opens into Photoshop. It does a very good job in its current guise and is easy to use. I do use it via Lightroom from time to time, but it all seems a very mechanistic route to me, whereas Photoshop and Bridge make me feel more creative and relaxed, and its much less like churning photographs out. archi4 Posted June 28, 2010 Share #8 Posted June 28, 2010 I have been using LR3 since the beta came out with great enthousiasm....BUT Yesterday I was testing a new Leica lens on my M8 using LR3 and because the results were not as stellar as expected, I ran the file through Capture One 5 Pro. Did this with quite a few exposures, also using other lenses and had to conclude that C1 gets more detail, no CA whereas I could not correct some CA in either LR3 or Camera RAW 6.1. For convenience and correction possibilities and ease of creating /adjusting camera profiles LR3 is magnificent....BUT! maurice
jaapv Posted June 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 28, 2010 I think it is just what you are looking for and taylor your workflow to the image - for critical images, C1-->CS5, for high-ISO images ACR --> CS5.
archi4 Posted June 28, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 28, 2010 Jaap, A short but perfect advice. Alternative which I now have tried is to set the C1 output folder as the watched folder in LR3, and do the eventual noise reduction and printing from LR3. maurice

rob_x2004 Posted July 1, 2010 Share #12 Posted July 1, 2010 I use DPP. Solms razzed my film cameras so badly I jumped ship an dropped ten k into canon. Hey it saved me a fortune....well ok it saved me a new car.
jaapv Posted July 1, 2010 Share #13 Posted July 1, 2010 If you jumped ship I'm surprised you're still over here and not on some Canon forum.
rob_x2004 Posted July 1, 2010 Share #14 Posted July 1, 2010 If you jumped ship I'm surprised you're still over here and not on some Canon forum. Well I can still shoot film if I choose to. We cant all be matey with the boys in solms in order to get what we payed for. But you are right I should cultivate a relationship to ensure they see me as a cash cow. And one forum is enough waste of time. Ps. Actually I was going to delete the post but I guess I better let it stand. Wouldn't want you talking to yourself. Never looked close to the deference between Leica digital (DMR, M8 or M9) and Canon digital (1DS mkII, 5D mkII)?? I know Minolta, Kodak and Panasonic did a lot in the electronics (so no Leica) Mechanical and the Glass is perfect. And the digital camera's are simple and the results are way better than the Canon. rob_x2004 Posted July 1, 2010 Share #16 Posted July 1, 2010 Didnt you have a crap load of the other peoples cameras? You will have to give me some pointers. Always open to assuage advice. I mean I woldnt have to achieve what you do with the digital leica. Just enough to get me by. Pas, the lenses are far nicer, no argument there. jaapv Posted July 1, 2010 Share #17 Posted July 1, 2010 Ps. Actually I was going to delete the post but I guess I better let it stand. Wouldn't want you talking to yourself. Well, DPP is not very relevant to the original question in a Leica Forum, is it? Not specific Leica, the remark would fit into a Nikon, Olympus etc. forum as well.... zlatkob Posted July 2, 2010 Share #18 Posted July 2, 2010 I mainly use Lightroom because it is extremely good and efficient. I have a dedicated keypad with keys programmed for fast adjustments in Lightroom. I occasionally use ACR to get a photo quickly into Photoshop.
