ezc203 Posted May 27, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) A months ago (mid-February) I wanted to get a 1.0-Nocti, so I was browsing around everybody's favorite auction site and "user quality" ones were going for $4500 - $5500, because I couldn't justify one at the time, I decided against. Recently, out of pure boredom, I searched up the 1.0-Nocti again and they are now upwards of $7000!!! Should've copped one when I had the chance! Are other people seeing the same trend? Advertisement Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Hi ezc203, Take a look here Noctilux f1.0 Prices going up Up UP?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted May 27, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 27, 2010 No- I just looked around after reading a thread about an Italian shop that stocked them and found a number of them at various places at a 3200-4000 Euro pricepoint.

That's the right price for a "last 100" with box a little scratched, humidor not calibrated, and white glove used...
jaapv Posted May 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 27, 2010 Maybe they offer a 10% reduction voucher for the Gunther Osterloh book.
ezc203 Posted May 27, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted May 27, 2010 Hmm, strange, I must be looking in all the wrong places. Jaap/Luigi, I consider you guys the "authoritative voices" of the Forum in terms of these questions, so your input in greatly appreciated. Any outlook on the future of 1.0-Nocti prices for the next 6 months?
tdtaylor Posted May 27, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 27, 2010 Here are two current links to 50mm f1.0: FS: Leica Noctilux E58 + Hood + Caps - FM Forums $4,500, seems good shape, 58mm FS: Leica Noctilux 6-bit - FM Forums 60mm, $5,500, 6 bit, claims mint or near mint, box and leather case included. These prices sound reasonable, given that the last of the new f/1.0 Noctiluxes ("regular," not the "last 100" models) were selling for $6500US. marknorton Posted May 28, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 28, 2010 I think the old Noctilux is better on the M8 than the M9. The vignetting on the M9 is just too much and IMHO, it's completely outclassed by the new lens.
ezc203 Posted May 28, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted May 28, 2010 Thanks for the link Jaap! Will probably be purchasing one soon, hopefully...
jaapv Posted May 28, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 28, 2010 For me the Summilux 50 asph is the better combination on the M9 if you don't want to go the whole way and get the 0.95. Unless you are hooked on the benign aberrations of course . But then, lens choice is a wholly personal preference. I think the old Noctilux is better on the M8 than the M9. The vignetting on the M9 is just too much and IMHO, it's completely outclassed by the new lens.

To me the huge new Noctilux looks like a fast Summilux 50 ASPH, so I'm keeping my 50 ASPH and using faster film if necessary. I'm also keeping my outclassed f1.0 Noctilux so I can have that unique look when I want it.
luigi bertolotti Posted May 28, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 28, 2010 To be honest... I think that as a photographer I simply do not deserve a Noctilux... 20 years ago I had a "Ur-Nocti" (the 1,2) , and re-sold it (at a price, that TODAY, is terrible to remember... ) when I realized that no one looked at me with respect and/or envy... . You have to take it out of the walk in safe, put it on a camera, and hang it around neck, to get people to notice it. Noel

Noel I DID... : I remember a disappointing event during a bike trip in Bavaria (I was single, and MUCH younger...): at Neuschwanstein castle I noticed a fine girl in a group of tourists... with a M2 at her sweet neck! I tried an approach asking her if she could take a pic of myself... with MY camera, of course... and handed her my M4 thinking to myself "wow, she cannot not to notice it's a Noctiliux... she will understand I'm a guy worth to know...": well... I went in position... she took the most trivial pic one can image (f11, 1/250... still have that pic...), and this was all... very VERY deceived...
