dkCambridgeshire Posted May 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was sent this link http://www.geocities.jp/dental2l/rareleica/rareleica.html which allegedly documents a Leica collection once owned by an unknown Japanese collector, now believed to be deceased. Any comments on the cameras? Cheers dunk

luigi bertolotti Posted May 26, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 26, 2010 Apparently, a very high-profile collection... with very rare old and less old items like the Anastigmat, the "Wetzlar 72" (and the "Midland72" too, just a bit less rare), the Motorized M2 (could it even be the elusive MP2 - 12-15 item built ?)... super tasty looks; isn't there an English version of the page ? I understand NOTHING... "Dental" adds a bit of mistery...was the collector a dentist ?
sabears Posted May 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 26, 2010 These are a number of items that belong both to a famous collection (Nakamura -passed away in 1995-) and to some famous Auctions/shops,etc. (Leicashop..) . cheers

greyelm Posted May 26, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The swastikas look suspicious, but what do I know, I've only seen them on Russky copies.
luigi bertolotti Posted May 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 27, 2010 The swastikas look suspicious, but what do I know, I've only seen them on Russky copies. Yes, they arise my suspect too, but don't like miltary versions so I cannot give a more concrete opinion about their originality. Also Anastigmats/Elmax exist in fakes, but in the pics the engravings look by far too "original". The Gold "Luxus" does not look a copy. BTW, strange that such a collection does not include any 250 and/or MP...
sabears Posted May 27, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 27, 2010 Yes there are some faked cameras, but if you are not interested in military Leicas it's not important to tell more. Also, I repeat, it's not a single collection, but parts of different collections (Nakamura+Leicashop+Westlicht Auction +...),so cameras from various owners...
