I would like to see a picture of the LCD screen. It looks...

I just want to mention that my LCD m9 screen seems to resist better than my m8 lcd screen.

In my M9 is disapearing the white paint but all the rest seems to be perfect. My M9 has not heavy use for the moment. Just one day a week for the last 10 months. Anyway the moment has come. I hope my M9 will resist.

It does not really matter since the M9 LCD sucks big time anyway... :)

some people have a kinder way of treating their possessions. cars, watches, phones, spectacles, cameras. some people don't give a crap. sliding their phones across tables for instance, harmless but causes many fine scratches.

i believe if i took 70 000 shots with an m9 from brand new, it would look no where near as worn as the one on previous post. and i can guarantee the lcd will not be scratched or broken.

This is very true.

However if you are using a camera professionally (except perhaps for landscapes) then wear and tear is unavoidable. I use two to three cameras for shooting weddings and inevitably they clang into each other at times, get clunked on the edges of tables etc. I'm actually always pleasantly surprised how well most of it survives to be honest. I care for my gear as much as possible, but when your camera is a tool, getting the shot, getting the right lens on in a hurry; these things matter more than worrying if a little graze here or there may happen in the process.

While I typically hate the concept of photographing a camera, this is the coolest exception ever. It sings with life - and after viewing your shots - I can see why. Very cool.

One question: does the hand-grip really help you? Along with the ThumbsUp? Curious to hear your thoughts about it's handling. (if you've answered in another thread, could you link to it?)

It already exists. Here, in the buy & sell section of this website, several M9s appeared.

Sorry, I was thinking of my own market (the UK), where we're only just seeing the M9 available to buy new on the shelves recently. There's certainly not enough to go around in the UK, and nowhere near enough to call a '2nd hand market' as such.

Okay, take the camera out of the presentation box, start shooting and get back to us.

The grip and Thumbs-Up helps even with the film Leica M. I use them on M7s with the motor wind and 'Vit. Most excellent additions.

That's really funny; had a good laugh!

I always thought (possibly I was mistaken) that cameras are made to use them; good quality cameras as much as possible. How "beautiful" they wear is for the Louis Vuitton set.

Hope it's ok to revive this old thread.

I'm trying to work out whether to go for black or grey right now, and that is influenced in part by how it might look when worn. I use cameras pretty heavily - not gratuitously, but they do get used, not babied, but while I don't care how my Canon gear looks, I'd kinda like an M9 to look lovely, in its own way, for years to come.

So now we're a few months down the line, are there any more worn M9's to show? Especially the grey - I don't really have a good sense of whether a worn grey paint M9 would look nice or just a bit odd.....

Only if somebody else has had the sandpaper out.
