I recently purchased a R8 and am now thinking of getting a digital module or buying

a Digilux 3 as a way to shoot digital. I understand that the Digilux requires an adapter,

and that the digital back is a dead end, but I can still use my lens.

Any comments on best option? Any experiences to share with one or both of these

solutions?

Thanks.

Hank

Hank, you might get a better response if you also post this in the digital forum.

There are also many related threads available using the search box. Sorry, but I have no personal experience with the DMR or Digilux, but many others here do. Many seem to prefer the Digilux 2, btw, as there are dedicated threads on it.

Thanks , for both replies, I was thinking about the idea of using the DSLR with adapter as a better way . Will try to cover all the bases. The DMR would have been the answer but cost and possible problems down the road discourages me.

Buy a Canon full frame + a Novoflex to put Leica glass on Canon.

Really small cameras have a 2x mult factor on focal length, ie 50 mm has the angle of view of a 100 on the small sensor. Unacceptable to me, perhaps not to you.

Toby, I tend to agree with you, had the Nixon D3 full frame and got use to shooting full frame digital again. Now that i am shooting with a Leica M9 I wanted to use the R8 for digital. I think a used Canon full frame with my Leica lenses would be the way to go . Thanks.

Well I took your advise and bought a new Canon 5D Mark II. When in Samy's I saw that they had a special offer for Canon's 5D Mark II, no sales tax and included a $400 Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 with a mail in rebate for the total $400. Just charging it up tonight will try out tomorrow with my R lenses! Thanks for the suggestion. By the way I will need to get a good adaptor tomorrow Any recommendations?

Novoflex is supposed to be best. That one stays on camera. The cheaper ones need to be removed with the lens and put on a new lens. Or you buy a bunch of them.

The APO lenses will impress you to no end.

Would be better still if there were no AA filter over the sensor.

I have a couple of Leica-R - EOS adaptors with the AF confirmation and I never had problems.

They are very well made and work great!

I could sell one to you if you don't want to try the ebay ones.

(sorry if this is against the rules but I'm talking about one simple adaptor and not trying to sell my camera gear...) :)

I would have loved to have found a good used DMR but because of the the good deal i found on canon i decided to go that way.: However, if the price is right, i would love to have a the DMR for the r8.
