What would you pay?

Recommended Posts

Michiel found a RASUK with RAMET sports viewfinder for me on the Web, looks mint, no box. What would the value be, just to give me a starting point to bid..

The one on Marktplaats, Jaap? That's the right price you're bidding, I would say... ;)

That is bad :D;) They have the first type 4.5/200, which is the only 200 mm lens that can be used officially directly on a Leica rangefinder. There were adapters for both LTM and M mount - where is my little book of numbers? If I only can find an adaspter ring....

TZOON : that's the ring for 200 directly on LTM... and there is also the proper finder SFTOO... but no rangefinder coupling... ;)... not so easy to use until we'll have the EVIL... :D

Btw, a 200 4,5 with good glass, postwar-coated, is an excellent tele : I have both it and the f4 version, and like better the 4,5, which is also really compact (better also than the ill-fated Elmarit V 180 2,8); of course, in the usual Viso config... :o

Sorry, Luigi. TZOON is for Leica 250. TZFOO is for LTM mount and 14024 for Leica M, according to Tompkins and Ruttiger (Wittig Verlag, 1984) It is moot anyway, because I suppose these rings, which seem to have had a shoe for the viewfinder btw, are quite impossible to find.

RIght : TZOON was indeed inroduced with the 250... but of course it can be used on any screw mount body (after all, is basically a tube as long as the Viso 1 - PLOOT).

TZFOO is almost identical : I gave a look at Lager book on lenses , same simple shape, same socket for finder, a slightly different tripod mount.

TZFOO with a SFTOO - -

(I love these words )

Jaap, If you just can't live without a TZFOO for your Telyt, don't dispair; they are out there! Uncommon but not impossible!

I came upon this stuff below after keeping watch over the various vendor and auction websites. Took about a year for all of it, if I recall.

My 1953 Leica price list shows the TZOON for the Telyt 200. I do not have a 1954 price list, which was the year the M3 was introduced, but my 1955 copy shows the TZOON is gone, replaced by the TZFOO for the LTM and the TXBOO (14024) for the M series.

I can only think that perhaps this was done to increase the height of the accessory shoe on the "new" TXBOO to allow the SFTOO finder to clear the increased height of the M3 top plate, and the same adaptor body was then used for the TZFOO as well, and which then would also work out well for the IIIg a few years later.

Cheers!
