Jaka Skorjanc Posted May 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am back from Russian Far-East, Kamtschatka, land of Vulcanoes, where I did join group on Heliskiing. As always there is a compromise what camera to bring with and carry during long runs, where factors as safety, speed, balance, comfort are playing important role. In 2007 I brought my D2xs, last year M8 with Summicrons (28 and 75). D2Xs was too heavy, on M8 I did miss the zoom (time consuming changing of lenses on steep slopes) and it did not fit into jacket pocket. I always needed to put it to ABS backpack, it means factor of speed and safety was overruled. This year I took Leica Dlux-4, it produces lovely RAW files I am processing with Aperture 3. It fits into pocket and 24-60 zoom did perform well. Here are some photos I made. Regards from Moscow. Jaka

Digitom Posted May 3, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2010 Very nice photos! I think that camera is perfect for this job: light, small and with good performance! Especially when taking photos there the wide angle of the D-Lux 4 is very good, no zoom needed mostly. One question: no problem handling with gloves? drdannn Posted May 5, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 5, 2010 Great shot with the helicopter, and the tilt of the chopper gives it the movement the photo needs. I think if you straighten the horizon just a tad, you will get even more tilt on the chopper and it may be even more dramatic. Just a thought. It's a great photo no matter what. stuny Posted May 5, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jaka - #4 is beautiful, and #5 is superb. I think that #1 & #2 would benefit from some punching up and some sharpening.
