Advertisement Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Interesting to see how many people look at the forum at any one time. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LUF Admin Posted June 23, 2006 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2006 74 people are currently viewing, now that the German side has been officially "opened". Amazing, really. What will it be like when everyone else realises that the password has gone I'll tell them tomorrow... The server had no problems with 100 concurrent users so let's see what it does when I send out more than 8000 activation mails... abrewer Posted June 23, 2006 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2006 Equally amazing to me is how many members have climbed aboard in the last twenty-four hours...suddenly we went from a couple or three pages of "Members List" to ten!!! And climbing! Thanks again Andreas for all your hard work. I'm sure it must be very fulfilling to see your little community coming to life and growing. LUF Admin Posted June 23, 2006 Share #5 Posted June 23, 2006 Thanks again Andreas for all your hard work. I'm sure it must be very fulfilling to see your little community coming to life and growing. Indeed! I'm so tired but sit fascinated in front of the user list and the system monitor telling me that everything runs fine. BTW: I had to look up what 'bung' is and found also the translation for 'valve bung threading': Ventilmuffenverschraubung There is no language like German... Good night! andybarton Posted June 23, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted June 23, 2006 There's a joke about a monkey, a pig and a bung, but it's not suitable for a family forum!

andybarton Posted June 24, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted June 24, 2006 I wonder if Leica ever knew that there maybe 100 people looking at the forum at any one time...?
abrewer Posted June 24, 2006 Share #9 Posted June 24, 2006 Hmmmm...my guess is "Not". It will be interesting going forward to see how the corporate interest evolves. If and when Andreas implements some of the ideas he tossed around in development of the new site there may be a wholesale change of opinion there. Thanks. abrewer Posted June 24, 2006 Share #10 Posted June 24, 2006 Did you count me in, Allan? And yes, Art, I did. Speaking for William L. and myself, we cannot wait to see some more of your beautiful pictures of the American southwest on this new site. Thanks. bill Posted June 26, 2006 Share #11 Posted June 26, 2006 There's a joke about a monkey, a pig and a bung, but it's not suitable for a family forum! LOL! Not heard that one for years! Regards, Bill
stuny Posted June 26, 2006 Share #12 Posted June 26, 2006 Of course, "100 viewing right now" only means that 100 are logged in. It does not mean that 100 have hit the site with a request at the same moment. If it were otherwise we could kiss goddbye the wonderfully improved response of the new site. let me add my "Thanks, Andreas". Stuart
jmr Posted June 26, 2006 Share #13 Posted June 26, 2006 Andreas, Congratulations on getting the new forum up and running so quickly. As a long time lurker on the original forum, it's nice to see so many familiar users over here. Memo to self; I must post more often. JR
clw Posted June 26, 2006 Share #14 Posted June 26, 2006 Thanks for the new forum, Andreas. I browse several other forums during the day, and they're all some incantation of vBulletin. Seems to be the standard.

doubice Posted June 28, 2006 Share #16 Posted June 28, 2006 Actually, what I found interesting immediately after I joined the 'old' forum, was the ratio of 'film' and 'digital' posts. It remained practically unchanged, at about 2:1 in favour of film posts and is still the same on the English Forum. Interestingly, the New German Forum has a ratio of about 5:1 in favour of film users. It will be interesting to see if and how it will change with the introduction of the digital M. Just some trivia...... Jan

If and when Andreas implements some of the ideas he tossed around in development of the new site there may be a wholesale change of opinion there. Thanks. Allan It would be great if Leica realised how woefully wide of the mark their perception of marketing strategy is - lots and lots of pople saying how good Leica cameras are and encouraging both a significant primary and secondary market would be an asset for most companies - !! robert_parker Posted June 28, 2006 Share #18 Posted June 28, 2006 Eeeek!! Maybe we could hire ourselves out to Canon or Nikon instead - bet they're looking for a nice forum to sponsor ...I'll just go and shoot some frames with my 180mm 2.8 R - oops !! I mean 180mm AI lens.....
masjah Posted June 29, 2006 Share #19 Posted June 29, 2006 There's a joke about a monkey, a pig and a bung, but it's not suitable for a family forum! Andy and Bill If we meet in Paris in October, you've got to recount that joke to everyone - I don't think I've heard it!
