M8 portraits

Nice clean images. The more B&W I see with the M8 the more I am convinced that the M8 is probably the best digital camera for B&W work on the market. It really does give a film like quality to the picture without excess graininess. Great for people shots.

The first is really beautiful Thomas .... you must have been on the shortest possible distance judging the dof ...i really like the short dof here!

Thanks for the kind works.

I was pretty close. framing worked surprisingly accurate.

I am not sure if I used f1.4 or f2 - however I also was surpized how good the subject has been isolated from the background.

Thomas -

Very nice, but I'll be the odd man out: I prefer #2. In that one the blend of the lovely colors, sharp focus and beautiful bokeh make it the choice for me. However, I'd consider cropping some off the left OR the right (probably off the right would be better), breaking the static feel of a photo that otherwise has all the earmarks of being made with love. In the case of the first image I think the centering of the subject works well since your subject is directly facing the camera and is quite cloes -- this no doubt enhances that feeling of a direct connection between you and your subject when you took the photo, and between your suject and me as I view the photo.

By the way: I MUCH prefer to have the images appear on the Forum rather than having to click links ot see them.

Thomas, when you compose a message simply scroll down to the area named 'Additional Options', click on the Attach Files 'Manage Attachments' button. A new window will pop up where you can browse for files, select and upload.

Hope this helps,

Happy Holidays

Alessandro
