JHAG Posted April 25, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 25, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just bought the Thumbs Up. Does what's written on the tin, except that it won't stay firmly in place on the hotshoe. There is a always slight wobble when pushing the thumb on it. Normal ? Advertisement Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Hi JHAG, Take a look here Thumbs Up. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
vdb Posted April 27, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2010 Not normal. I have 2, they fit very tightly with no wobble.
JHAG Posted April 27, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted April 27, 2010 Which model do you have ? LFI only sells the EP1, without tightening screw. Tim Isaacs wrote to me the wiggle was normal with EP1.
JHAG Posted April 27, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted April 27, 2010 In fact, mine (same as this one) has no markings whatsoever (totally black), and it doesn't insert itself completely towards the front of the shoe (1 mm gap). Guest sicherdat Posted April 27, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 27, 2010 Hello, try it without the rubber piece. Remove it. I had the same problem with the same thumbs up (black without lettering) and now it works perfect.
JHAG Posted April 27, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted April 27, 2010 I tried without. It's worse.
JHAG Posted May 9, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted May 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) By the way, LFI Shop really has to improve their customer service. Not a single reply to my mails asking an exchange of EP1 for the ESP 1model, after Tim Isaac explained to me the latter had a screw to fit the TU tightly into place on the shoe. LFI's a bit rude (especially after it took them almost 10 days to finalise the sale). Maybe I'm too much used to stellar CS like Amazon's or Apple's. 250swb Posted May 9, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 9, 2010 I think it fits like all hot shoe accessories and they don't go all the way to the front of the shoe anyway, the hotshoe pin stops them. fwiw I have the ESP1 and don't use the screw to tighten down. In use the TU stays firmly in place and just half an inch of tape between the body stops it rubbing. I can still wobble it off, but it won't fall out. For anybody looking to buy a TU its worth saying Tim Isaac is a good man to deal with directly and one who cares about his products. Steve
JHAG Posted May 9, 2010 Author Share #9 Posted May 9, 2010 For anybody looking to buy a TU its worth saying Tim Isaac is a good man to deal with directly and one who cares about his products. Steve Indeed he is. We spoke several times about his products, and I even think I gave him one good idea.
Jamie Roberts Posted May 18, 2010 Share #10 Posted May 18, 2010 Indeed he is. We spoke several times about his products, and I even think I gave him one good idea. Like a Thumbs-Up with a pass-through hotshoe?
JHAG Posted May 18, 2010 Author Share #11 Posted May 18, 2010 Like a Thumbs-Up with a pass-through hotshoe? No, more modestly related to the eye-clipse and diopter correction.
Jamie Roberts Posted May 19, 2010 Share #12 Posted May 19, 2010 No, more modestly related to the eye-clipse and diopter correction. Hmmm. Doesn't sound so modest to me, Johan Personally, I can't believe a pass through hot shoe would be so difficult.
