ho_co Posted April 23, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 23, 2010 Geka-- Depends on you. If you're asking, you probably don't need it. I bought the finder and carry it in the belt pouch with the camera. But I almost never use it because for me the D-Lux 4 is a grab-shot camera, and installing the finder would take another 30 seconds or so. I've got a "stealth" preset for using the finder, and am looking for a convenient case for carrying the camera with finder attached. That might make the combination more worthwhile. ricardojh Posted April 24, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 24, 2010 I use the Leica finder in bright sunny conditions. I take it off when it is easier to see the screen. Doing it this way takes some adjusting due to the slight angle difference, but it works well for me.
Barconti Posted April 29, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I use the optical finder in all light conditions. I find that I can compose the shot better using the finder rather than the screen.
regedit Posted April 29, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 29, 2010 Hi, I use the B I G Leica optical v/f..a bit expensive, great optics.. what is that ?! looks cool. can provide more info, where can I find/buy that ?! thanks,
jankap Posted April 29, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 29, 2010 I don't use the viewfinder. For macros or sun in the back I use the Hoodmanlens (if it is with me!). These elastic bands are not so very noble, but .... By the way, I like the holding of the zoom position of the new firmware. Also the quadratic format and the holding of the manual focus are useful additions (not yet used). Somehow this is a "little" systemcamera. Ed_K Posted April 30, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 30, 2010 I got the LX3 one attached at all time, comes in handy when the sun "blinds" the lcd screen, though it takes some getting use to the framing at different focal length.
symmetron Posted May 3, 2010 Share #11 Posted May 3, 2010 I leave an older 21mm VF on my DL4 and use the Optech Digital Pouch (Small) about $20. It's nice because you can still use the neck strap and the case weighs almost nothing. Welcome, dear visitor! rennsport Posted May 3, 2010 Share #12 Posted May 3, 2010 I also use the Panasonic Lumix optical finder. It's small enough for the flash to pop up.
farnz Posted May 3, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 3, 2010 what is that ?! looks cool. can provide more info, where can I find/buy that ?! thanks, It's the current viewfinder for the 16-18-21mm f/4 wide-angle Tri-Elmar. Enquire at any Leica dealership. Pete.
mikej Posted May 4, 2010 Share #14 Posted May 4, 2010 Hi, Geka - I'm using the Leica 24mm viewfinder and I prefer it for composing pictures in a more natural way (more natural than trying to see the LCD while shooting). The quality is good and I haven't had any of the problems others notes regarding a loose fit in the hot shoe. Cheers, Mike
