Advertisement Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Hi fotografr, Take a look here Meditation . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Peter41951 Posted December 20, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 20, 2006 Brent, I liked your framing and the subject's choice of colour!
stuny Posted December 20, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 20, 2006 brent - Exquisite. The monk practices the style of Buddhism practiced in Tibet and Bhutan. Lovely light, details, texture and wonderful contrast between the grays and the deep red. Where is this?
gverdon Posted December 20, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 20, 2006 Brent, very intriguing subject... I like but i'm not convinced by the cropping, I miss some vertical dimension. BTW, serious vertical banding issues with the M7 too... Gérald
Harrison Posted December 20, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 20, 2006 A really nice shot. I agree with the above poster about the lack of vertical, but it has been composed well, with a strong point of interest, with the hand rail leading the eye in nicely. Glad you had colour film loaded!
fotografr Posted December 21, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted December 21, 2006 Thanks for the comments. A couple of things about the cropping: I was using the 19mm without the accessory viewfinder, so was kind of guessing on the composition. Also, when posting here, I generally try not to have the photographs too much on the vertical because most people then have to scroll up and down to see the image. Stuart--Believe it or not, this is right here in Madison.
martinop Posted December 21, 2006 Share #7 Posted December 21, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) The lighting + the framing lead the viewer (my case) directly to the person in medium reddish color robes sitting on the chair and wonder who he or she is? And his /her purpose meditating @ that location? Interesting and intriguing shot.
Dirk Van der Herten Posted December 21, 2006 Share #8 Posted December 21, 2006 Very nice composition, excellent colour combination.
kodaktrix Posted December 21, 2006 Share #9 Posted December 21, 2006 Brent, I like the idea but am not that convinced about the cropping either. What I really like are pictures on Your homepage! What kind of Canon 19mm do You use, the 3.5/19 RF in LTM mount or the FL 3.5/19 (for SLR) with adaptor? Regards Oliver
samwells Posted December 21, 2006 Share #10 Posted December 21, 2006 Brent - very beautiful and serene, wonderful colors. I like the diametrically opposed reds of the garment and the small block top left, and the gentle suffusion of light. Thanx for showing. cheers: Sam
fotografr Posted December 21, 2006 Author Share #11 Posted December 21, 2006 Brent, I like the idea but am not that convinced about the cropping either. What I really like are pictures on Your homepage! What kind of Canon 19mm do You use, the 3.5/19 RF in LTM mount or the FL 3.5/19 (for SLR) with adaptor? Regards Oliver Thank you, Oliver. The one I use is the 3.5/19 RF LTM mount. It's pretty old and beat up but still does a fair job. In reference to the cropping, there wasn't any visual interest above and below--just an extension of what you already see here. I cropped it even before doing the scan. I would have moved closer to the person for a tighter shot, but didn't want to intrude on his meditation. As is was, he never even knew I was there. Paul, Dirk and Sam--Thank you, also. Your comments are always appreciated.
